IMO there’s one silver lining to this shambolic administration; Trump has set the precedence to act first and then the courts have to stop him. If I was a Democrat president in 2028, I’d arrest him, his kids, his accomplices, take all his assets and properties, etc.

And if you think this is extreme and the moral high ground should be taken, you’re going to be surprised if the following Republican president won’t do the same as Trump.

If there are no consequences, the Republicans will find someone even worse to do even worse things the next time around, no doubt.

Just look at what they’ve done since Nixon. Nixon had no real consequences (though the cons have been salty about him resigning, and are endlessly butthurt that he had to even endure any shaming), which led to Ronnie Raygun - up until donnie anyway, the most criminal administration in history, as measured by the number of indictments. Ronnie Raygun’s assault, oops, “revolution”, on our country then culminated in motherfucking Iran/Contra.

Next was W and Cheney and then donnie. The Republicans learn nothing, don’t moderate themselves at all and unless they are checked, all they learn is that they can get away with nearly anything.

Honestly I say just abandon the damned thing at this point. Convert the Whitehouse to a museum, tear up whatever Trump put in and construct a new facility elsewhere. If a president or two gets hacked in the meantime eh who gives a fuck. Politicians are worth less than the average person, he’s even an inbred cousin fucker since at least they probably do something more productive than most politicians on average.

First, if they ever elect a Democrat again he will be all for peace and bi-partisanship again and will say you have to respect the office and be careful about how to treat Trump’s legacy.

Second, if he doesn’t Supreme Court will change their mind about everything in 5 seconds and start blocking him on every step.

I don’t care about the Whitehouse. I don’t care about The Kennedy Center. I don’t care about the arch or the reflecting pool.

Assuming there’s anything left at the end of his term, the first thing we should do is pass an amendment establishing that no one is above the law. If a president breaks the law, he should have justice.

Maybe that will make some kind of difference. Nothing less than Trump and his co-conspirators rotting in prison will save the U.S.

Maybe it isn’t worth saving. I used to think we were on a path to some day live up to our hype. However, I don’t see it anymore.

He’s not (supposed to be) above the law now. The problem is the system and those who should hold him to it are equally corrupt so stuff like impeachment goes nowhere

You’d need a way to charge, prosecute, and penalize a sitting president even even the deck is stacked with his cronies, and one that couldn’t be used to drown a future non-shitty president in bogus charges

He isn’t even supposed to be holding office right now. He is an illegal and illegitimate president for inciting and enabling an insurrection and commiting treason.

The problem with that constitutional law and so many others is that there is no “automatic enforcement mechanism”. They are all written like “You can’t do X”, but they don’t specify “If you do X the consequences are Y and should be enforced by Z by them doing Q”…

We should focus on amending laws and our constitution especially to close all those loopholes that he found and exploited. It is still absolutely infuriating and insane that our constitution says he can’t even be president right now, but because no one enforced it we just let him move on in and take control and ruin the country. That is the stupidest reason possible for the stupidest president in the stupidest political movement in history. (So far)

I don’t care about the Whitehouse. I don’t care about The Kennedy Center. I don’t care about the arch or the reflecting pool.

No one cares about these items themselves, they’re just emblematic of this administration’s narcissism and ignorance.

the first thing we should do is pass an amendment establishing that no one is above the law.

We don’t need a law that says people can’t break the law… That already exists. It’s called the law. We do clearly need to severely limit the powers of the executive branch. Get rid of pardons, get rid of executive orders, etc. It’s proven that these powers can and will be abused. The glacial pace that govt moves at takes years to catch up with illegal executive orders.

I used to think we were on a path to some day live up to our hype. However, I don’t see it anymore.

We’re definitely doing the opposite but the pendulum swings hard sometimes. I mean just 11 years ago we had a black Democratic President.

The country won’t be able to do this because, as strange as it is, 33% of it is literally in a cult that worships the man. Only with the true and full will of the country behind you could you hope to do what needs to be done: full asset seizure and trial for crimes and treason and whatever proper associated punishment follows.

But you can’t do it, because he fully controls 1 out of every 3 people you see on the street in America. While that’s far from a majority, it’s enough to make a proper accounting impracticable. 33% of the country would be going feraljak about the government being weaponized.

But even beyond him, there’s something else that desperately needs doing and that’s an overhaul of the Constitution. The document was fantastic for 1787. It is woefully inadequate to run the modern United States. Its biggest shortcoming, ironically, is the absolute inability of government to properly and deftly respond to the very success that it’s principles have brought to it.

None of it’s going to get done until everybody is so miserable that they no longer have anything tribal on their stupid, small minds. There’s going to have to be real pain, like starvation and suffering going on before real change is going to be able to be effected because people are still fat and happy enough to sit around and guffaw while Trump owns the libs, even as the cost of everything around them doubles.
