    Things have changed significantly since Super Mario Bros. was released. For example, vast majority of video games released these days feature no senseless violence toward turtles. Many even portray turtles in factual, chilly way! 🐢

    movies and tv shows are pretty simple – you had charlie chaplin and leave it to beaver and then the last of us on HBO.

      It was the other showrunner, Craig Mazin, who said this. He doesn’t work in vidya gaems Though I can’t find the original source where he said it. So could be a shitpost.

          Yeah I know there’s some really deranged people on the internet.

          It’s a bizarre thing when people think that proving the existence of a narrative is the same thing as something being true.

          Apparently there’s a synagogue in it so some people are upset by that. You’ll of course claim that Zionism is not the same as antisemitism, while also spending a lot of time reading a lot of articles that tell you to hate a video game because it shows a synagogue in it.

              What is it you think I forgot? No one’s forgetting how there’s people spending a lot of time trying to convince everyone that anything that recognizes the existence of Jews should be labelled “zionists” and be a target of hatred.

              I also haven’t forgotten then general pattern of posts on “Lemmy Shitpost”. One day Gal Gadot is the target of your two minutes hate, next day it’s this guy I never even heard of before.

              Also I haven’t forgotten that this isn’t the first time in history people have acted this way. Not everything is about comforting you by making you feel like no one notices this pattern of behaviour.

    I was listening to a podcast recently, New York Videogames Critics Circle, and they talked about The Last of Us 1 and 2 and Neil Druckman as if it was the first game to ever make the player feel emotions. Like not just that it did so successfully, but that it did it at all.

        There’s not all that much fact checking about something like that. It’s not like they claimed something and got one small detail wrong. It’s just a blanket statement that is unsubstantiated. Assuming they have common knowledge of the industry they’re in, it takes just one game that is not coin-operated and has some save functionality to make the original statement invalid.

      That’s how everything in the internet works nowadays. I just can’t do it. Everyone (mostly bots I suspect) seem to want to get pissed off or feel themselves like correct or interesting.
