I’ve always heard that until you’re master/GM level, it’s better just to play it out. Your opponent might blunder too, or accidentally stalemate you. At the very least, it’s good practice playing at a disadvantage. I know I’ve blundered huge leads myself, so who knows what’s going to happen?
There’s a psychological thing where we always assume that our opponents in games will never mess up, which makes it feel easy to give up the moment you make a mistake.

0·2 years agoThis is why I love TNG so much. Even though TOS is the original that laid the groundwork for everything, TNG took that “boundless optimism” and ran with it. Watching TNG inspires me to continue to self-improve and encourage it in others.

0·2 years agoLol, there are just so many random variations of every opening that it’s virtually impossible to know them all. It’s sometimes helpful to see what an opening is called so that you can potentially look it up later, but 99% of the time I feel like Michael in the meme.
