$2.5 m for a private jet seems really low
Probably a piece of shit
It’s low for a new jet, used jets lose a lot of their value over time and there are a lot of them. For 2.5m you’re probably looking at a used business class jet, like a Lear 31, or a Hawker 800. Some sort of private plane that was owned and used by a corporation.
Who wants to watch any of this crap?
children let loose on an unrestricted internet without familial oversight
I was those kids 20 years ago, creators definitely went bizarro with their stuff.
corporatisation of the internet hadnt really begun, it’s a whole different mrbeast today
Elementary teacher here. Can confirm.
Ahhh, I always wondered who watches the super high views, super shitty clickbait garbage. Turns out it’s the same people who play the f2p-but-it’s-all-microtransactions games.
Depressing.
There’s a pretty big viewerbase of toddlers, that’s not the Mr Beast territory. That’s the unboxing toys kinds of videos, somewhat due to them almost being incapable of leaving a loop
I… Don’t know if that’s better.
I know someone who’s 28. She doesn’t work, has a well-off partner and is behaving like a child/teenager. So uh, yeah, checks out only kids (actual or otherwise) watch him. The rest of us are grossed out by the idea and creeped out by his soulless eyes.
Right??? His eyes freak me the fuck out.
is this real?
I think so unfortunately.
I recall hearing about the pilot one as the twist was that his family was waiting outside as the end approached and this sick fuck tried to get him to stay in longer for more money.
Haven’t heard of the others mind you. They’re on brand for him though.
holy flip. I really wish he just donated the money instead of torturing people for it.
Oh he “donates” money*
*to his friends, acting as strangers in his videos.
The secret with the guy in the gym is he started out at only 90 pounds. To win any money he will have to become antimatter
No no, he’d just need to gain 100 pounds first
McDonald’s doordash all day?
I hope that guy doesn’t win.
Don’t be matter phobic, antimatter lives matter too
This is antima propaganda. Antima is a terrorist organization, unlike the patriotic Proton Boys.
That took me way too many readings to understand you were joking
If Mr Beast was twenty years older, he would’ve been the one paying bums to flight.
Hell, I’d pay to see flying bums.
D’oh. I’ve edited it so now your comment doesn’t make sense. Flight -> fight.
My comments don’t make sense at the best of times.
Mr Beast’s Argentine Death Flights
Bum Flights: a show about trying to find among 100 unhoused people any of them who are capable of learning flight sims and eventually becoming pilots. Like crop duster level pilots realistically. Airline pilot certification is probably too far along to be entertaining.
Exploitative? Still probably exploitative. Guaranteed to be at least marginally better than whatever the Beast Studios people are making
But at least they would have a chance to get a job.
Is this like flying super kids, just with adults instead?
Yeah people would watch jumping gymnastics
All of these are just working people being toyed with by the rich for their entertainment and profit
A 2.5 million private jet is, uh, probably not new.
The smallest Very Light Jets, like the Cessna Mustang or HondaJet, start around $5 million new.
So you’re probably looking at a decades old plane, almost certainly not enough room to fully stand up, and possibly no lavatory.
It could be a Cirrus Vision Jet.
Edit: holy shit they’ve gone up in price to $3.2M. Damn inflation hitting private jets too. Nobody’s immune
Look at Mr. Fancy Pants over here who knows about private jets
Hey, this dude has the value of knowing private jets weak points. Let it slide.
Ah yes, good point. @minfapper Tell us more about these jets, Mr. Fancy Pants.
Idk who you tagged but I hope it works
I looked this up. It was a Hawker 400XP, worth about $2.4 million. Yes, it’s a tiny jet.
Well that was an interesting source
Pilot who won private jet from MrBeast challenge briefly detained in Paraguay over drug case
The seized drugs were high in THC and were estimated at $3.6 million, according to Paraguayan officials.
So if this pilot users his new Jet to smuggle more drugs, is Mr Beast an accomplice?
Just a middlebeast.

All of these are just working people being toyed with by the rich for their entertainment and profit
That’s literally a description of society. Not just modern society, society throughout all of history. The rich and powerful have always toyed with the peasants.
These are just variations of game shows. Do X and you can win $/Prizes while they film it and play advertisements while people watch.
Dude literally watched Squid Game and said that shit would be better if it were real then set out and did it.
But for 5k a day… Yeah, I’d waste three months of my life for that kind of money
And this is brings us to our next point–we need to tax the shit out of them.
Of course you would. I probably would too. It’s life changing money. But the morality of these ‘challenges’ is extremely fucked. And $5k a day is pocket change to Mr Beast who makes $1.6 million a day 🤮
I watched a video about it, and what’s interesting to me is that he had an enormous budget for this Squid Game remake. He spent it on setting up hundreds of cameras, building a whole set where the game would take place, hired all kinds of camera operators… but didn’t do even basic play-testing of the games he was going to have people play.
As a result, some challenges that were supposed to last for an hour or so ended up taking more than 12 hours. Some challenges that were supposed to eliminate half the contestants instead eliminated over 90%. Some challenges didn’t work because people refused to eliminate their friends.
A criminal living in jail to win 500k? It’s not like he can leave……
Oh look a rich person controlling other people with money. 🤮
entertainment is something everyone can enjoy, like human suffering or camping
Basically a gladiator spectacle but with less obvious class dividers.
I mean it’s from top to bottom, including the reward (monetary instead of livelyhood)That sounds like what happens to me at work. I don’t like it
I have a pilot where one beast is captured and chained by each limb to ratchets. Ever 100 likes tightens a ratchet one notch. Which limb will give out first? Will the beast survive?
This guy has half a dozen people locked up for “content”. Is anyone else seeing how this is hugely problematic?
Yes, in fact there’s a whole genre of video essay where people explain how Mr Beast is problematic.
But to be fair, he’s just an extension of the last 30 years of reality tv. Lure some desperate people with a large sum of cash, make them suffer in front of the camera, edit liberally, air for the entertainment of millions.
Additionally, one of the most popular tv shows of the decade is a criticism of exactly this phenomenon. Mr Beast did a whole tv series that tried to be Squid Game unironically, completely missing the moral of the story and spawning another round of criticism. Something something Guy Debord, something Jean Baudrillard something.
Huh, a hyper-reality reference out in the wild.
I never know which is which. I’ve read both The Society of the Spectacle and Simulacra and Simulation but I don’t think I understood any of it, so a vague allusion is the best I can do. I understood a lot more of the 2016 documentary HyperNormalization, which is a synthesis of both? (I understood neither, so I’m just guessing there.)
At least Mr Beast is giving decent payouts… Meanwhile UK has stuff like get married to a stranger and pressured into having sex or just outright raped. There is no payout, all you seem to get is the wedding, a week holiday and a few weeks in an apartment block.
If the people are doing it voluntarily, and the minor(s) have parental consent, I don’t see the issue. I doubt they have no way to leave early.
Now, it may be problematic from a societal standpoint, that people want to do such a thing because they don’t make enough money.
I call this the “no literal gun pointed at head” fallacy.
Some dude who agreed to one of these extended challenges released a video exposing the behind the scenes abuse they do to get you to stay as long as possible so they get more content from you. Their whole investment of time and hype isn’t worth it if you leave after a few days like you’re tempted to. It was pretty disturbing, I believe it’s still on YouTube.
The only set ups that aren’t as abusive imo are the ones that can only last so long and are in public. I believe one was whoever keeps their hand on the car the longest wins the car. That one is pretty harmless with a decent pay off.
if you can remember the name of the video or channel, I’d like to give it a wat h
I believe this was the one I watched.
thanks!
I feel like there are various pieces of cinema pointing out why this is very fucking problematic
Like…?
Black Mirror
Squid games for one.
Hunger games. I remember a Youtuber predicting Mr Beast will end up organizing some Hunger games!
He already ripped off Squid Game.
Did they place a bet on that? /s
Not that I know. Maybe he should?
All those Saw movies and similar?
Cinema?
obligatory Folding Ideas behind the scenes for anyone thinking “how bad can a celebrity production company be?”
That’s precisely the point of the proplem: he exploits misery and dreams of wealth in a society that by design creates misery and glorifies money.
Imagine someone neeeding the money to save an ill relative. Would you still call it"voluntarily"?
And all those kids who dream of getting rich by suffering on video, what kind of value is that promoting?
It would be pointless if they had no way to leave early. The entire premise is that they have to voluntarily endure the situation for the reward.
Sounds like you haven’t watched Black Mirror. Most episodes are worth a watch, but for this conversation, I recommend starting with Series 7 Episode 1.
The first thing i think about when I see this is npt Squid game but The ones who walk away from Omelas
This.
A 2.5M jet’s gonna cost so much in maintenance, if the pilot gets it, it’s gonna ruin them :|
yeah, at that point you just gotta sell it off. Hell, sell it off half price and you still get life changing money.
He’ll have to sell it to cover his federal income tax bill. Or more likely mortgage it if he’s planning his own business around the aircraft.
Uh if you can pilot that jet and own it outright, you have a whole-ass business. They’ll be fine.
Why any of these? I am confused. Seems like anyone living in a gym and being paid money would lose weight. They all sound pretty stupid.
They gonna give the contestants challenge and set them up to fail by mentally torturing them.
I lost 100 pounds (and still losing), and never set foot in a gym. Where’s my $500K?
Jimmy is a fucking idiot. See any of the behind the scenes stuff and weird attempts at making Beast Games work. No planning, no actual experience with logistics, game design, filming, editing, etc.
He’s just some schmuck with money, and people keep giving him more.
He’s just some schmuck with money
To his credit, he did come up with the perfect formula to get kids’ attention. If you look at his first videos and compare it to the recent ones, it’s insane the difference. Nowadays there isn’t a wasted second, no moment for a thought to begin to bubble in your head.
Because it’s not supposed to make sense as a game concept. It’s just supposed to generate a video that will get clicks. That it doesn’t make sense for the actual contestant isn’t a factor.
Cats.
Welcome to Omelas?
Fuck… I had a thought that ended with that concept, just earlier today. My end-thought was kinda like, “would you walk away from Omelas with me?”
It was a day for me; but what a small (fucked up) world
