No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What is it about Mark Zuckerberg's appearance or demeanor that creeps people out?
33·17 hours agoHe has an uncanny valley look to him. I think the dark eyes and crappy haircut are part of it. And his general awkwardness. But also a lot of it is influenced by his actions, ie. the way you can feel everything he says is a sleazy lie as he works to invade your privacy. He doesn’t have a sleek salesman demeanor to help smooth it over.
Why isn’t there a better candidate then?

Games@lemmy.world•It has now been a quarter century since Penny Arcade proclaimed that "videogames suck now".English
6·2 days agoThis is true, but it’s not just as simple as “things were better in my day” for no reason. The experience of video games has changed, demonstrably, from what it was decades ago. If you enjoyed the aspects of gaming from the past that aren’t part of the experience today, then they do indeed suck now, from your subjective point of view. So the comic isn’t wrong. It will happen to youuuuuu!

I’m sure it does save lives. That does not justify invading everyone’s privacy with a video wiretap in every car. As you and another commeneter pointed out, it would be fine if it was self contained and we could trust the car wasn’t radioing to various corporations and governments. But we know for a fact that they are. As long as the car is able to transmit that data out of my control, I don’t trust GDPR to protect me from being spied on with this camera.
If you’re in the EU these systems are mandatory which is also why the car complains when the cameras are covered.
Mind-boggling if true. There’s no way I would own such a car.

678·3 days agoI hate when AI people say “things are so different in just the past few weeks, what you know from last year is meaningless” without specifying what’s so groundbreaking that us regular folks wouldn’t be able to comprehend. It just seems like a way to shut people up and feel superior.
