Not an American, but here’s how I see it: It’s ammo.
To Trump supporters, deporting immigrants is seen as a good thing that he’s doing. But they also usually have a staunch anti-LGBTQ stance. Trump blowing a dude, regardless of if this bubba is or isn’t Bill Clinton, goes pretty hard against their stances. If there’s ever plausible evidence, it might be what makes Trump supporters see him for what he is to the rest of the world: a bumbling, lying idiot.
Putin potentially having such evidence further escalates this into yet another indicator that Trump might be playing his nation into Russia’s hands.

I think that’s changed a bit. Hooters went bankrupt, and many local governments have heavy restrictions on strip clubs, such as no nipples can be shown, no physical contact, no license to serve liquor, etc.
And that just makes the whole deal weirder. No physical contact is reasonable of course. But have a person be practically naked, dancing sensually is fine, unless there’s nipples. Can’t have that, it’s too much.
The US is very weird.
I think the laws are just meant as a soft-ban. There may be legal complications with outright banning strip clubs. The no physical contact takes away what I think make up stripper’s largest income source, and no nipples and alcohol makes it a less attractive place to go. I had a few hours to waste in a city once, waiting on a flight, and walked into one of these strip clubs. There was only one stripper there, one bartender, and I was the only customer; so I’m guessing it really did hurt the market.
American pop culture is fine with sex as long as it’s not two men:

Yeah, libs have been very open about homophobia and ableism since Trump was elected and they had a crisis that warranted a suspension of the performance. Statistically, we know most men in the US are complacent with or perpetrators of sexual violence and a significant amount – even the majority in some places – fetishize youth and teen women. For Americans, it really is more reputation destroying to have done queer shit than to be a rapist pedophile (this includes “ephebophiles,” sorry).
They’re not going to get mad about racism and genocide, it isn’t even going to be on their minds because they don’t actually oppose the underlying values that facilitate those policies currently. They will make a show of anti-racism and constitution protection so long as it remains a rhetorical response exclusively.
It isn’t the consensual sex, it is the context of Putin potentially having pics and Epstein being fully aware of it and the blackmail that goes along with that. Plus Trump is a fragile narcissist so keeping it in the news is funny.

Intelligent people are worried about the blackmail context of the emails, but intelligent people never supported Trump, so this is just another reason to hate him and a new reason to be worried. Among Trump’s core supporters, homophobia is a critical issue, it has always been a major topic for the Trump admin. Previously the Epstein files were just about pedophilia, and conservative states have always taken a softer stance on the topic with things like child marriage.
There may be more important things to the story, but where voters can be swayed, the big story is “Trump did something gay.”
