A child surrounded by people who all kick his commands down the ladder, each person down the rung knowing even less how to do their job right than the Orange Twitler at the top. So by the time it gets to the last person who sends it it’s just: use some leftover blue paint they found in some warehouse from the 1980s and pay some trump crony contractor a crapload of money to hire another contractor who will be lucky to be paid to do the shitty painting job.
Its so much harder than you think. This would take a team of about 20 guys a month to do right. He got some little company for maralago to do it. He probably flew them up and got them hotel rooms and tours and everything. They just started putting blue paint down. That is concrete that has been under water for decades.
The process: Power wash the entire pool with high pressure for about a week Have professional concrete guys patch any holes Vacuum up any particulate Seal with two coats of concrete primer tinted blue rated to be under water Clean the whole surface again to ensure there arent loose particles anywhere by thoroughly vacuuming again Then two coats of the blue topcoat
It would take at least a month and the guys they got to do it just know how to do smaller swimming pools that dont need as much prep and they are “ccommercial” work, which usually means its done as cheaply as possible.

Apparently it used to be filled with tap water.
That changed in a 2009 reno to use water from the Tidal Basin(man made resevoir) constantly circulating to avoid stagnation issues.However, that itself caused issues. Rampant algae growth immediately became an issue, so they had to improve the ozone disinfectant system in the same year.
It was drained in 2017 to solve a parasitic snail outbreak which was killing ducks in the pool.

This is the Reflecting Pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. You may have seen it in movies like Forrest Gump.
Trump decided to paint it blue like a swimming pool and the job looks to be going bad.
Trump personally chose the color, contractors without asking anyone really or going through the proper channels like getting approval from congress and input from the public.
In the years to come, the blue pool will mark the time during which Trump was the president of the USA. Its visitors will look down upon their reflection and see blue, as if to say they were the ones who elected him.I’m willing to bet the water was sold to an AI datacenter and won’t be refilled, thus why its being painted blue, so it can fake being full of water

Well the main takeaway is that like so many things, Trump heard “pool” and he thinks “swimming pool” because he’s a fucking idiot. So he thinks it’s supposed to be like a national swimming pool, and wants it painted so people are more likely to use it or who the fuck knows.
Real answer: Corruption, money laundering, and bad taste combined
