One of the major chains sold these as “pizzones,” because it’s a calzone with a pizza on top. I knew them from a local place as a “smothered calzone.”

Depends on how you stack them if it’s base to face then yeah, that’s just 2 pizzas, but it’s its face to face then that’s just a round pizza sandwich.
And if you put a beef patty in between, you have a burger.

Ooh damn, I think you’re really cooking on this “anti-calzone” idea! Two slices, back to back, bread in the middle surround by toppings on both sides. Basically impossible to eat cleanly or set down once assembled. It’s an open-face-and-ass sandwich. A sloppy ho.
You could eat it with a fork a knife. Or possibly fold it at the crust?

Depends on topping orientation. Top pizza needs to be upside down to be a sandwich/calzone; if it’s right side up it’s a lasagna

pizza face down on pizza is a calzone or a sandwich, situationally.
But if you put multiple smaller pizzas on top of one larger pizza, theyre just toppings, and you’re back to one pixza again.
You could put pizza rolls as toppings on a pizza. That would also be terrible.
Deep dish is a soup, Jon Stewart made that very clear.
