jfc. And here I was thinking that that audio clip of Ken Martin literally fucking crying at David Hogg would amount to anything. These people have the utmost contempt for their constituents, it is absolutely ridiculous. They would LITERALLY rather America succumb to a fascist takeover than begin to call out their own, or oppose their corporate donors. The average democratic voter has more balls and patriotism than these people. Words cannot describe how insanely livid this makes me, neolibs can suck my fucking balls.

and this is why the DNC is going to die. Its killing itself with its own greed.

Yeah they’re better than the republicans because they don’t commit literal treason in broad daylight. But these fuckers want to get paid more than they want to serve and better their country.

This confirms to me that the Democrats always having enough people breaking rank to pass horrible Republican bills is a feature of the party and not a bug because they instantly toss the guy trying to fix it. There will NEVER be enough Democrats in elected positions to pass the bills they pretend to want to pass nor will there ever be enough to stop Republican rule, no matter how small a minority they are.

I did not say that.nor so I endorse that philosophy. My state is solidly blue and doesn’t have enough electoral votes to affect the election in any meaningful way. I’ve been voting third party for almost 30 years because it’s the only possible way for my presidential vote to matter at all. It’s actually impressive how stupid and wrong your strawman argument is in this case.

As painful as it will be, they leave few options outside of a third party at this point. They’d need to focus on districts where they will minimize negative consequences, but there must be a willingness to bargain with mutual loss in favor of Republicans. The corprocrats are always more willing than the left to risk fascists winning, but given how much they’re going to the right recently, they’re really not much better.

Neo-liberals and conservatives have the same goal: make rich people richer at the expense of everyone else.

If a Republican wins, they both win.

If a Democrat wins, they both win.

It’s why there really are only 2 kinds of people in this world: those who support the 2 party system, and those who do not.

A lot of times you’re not worth arguing with but people will still downvote you to show their disapproval. This way it doesn’t look like there’s no disagreement.

And there’s an argument to be made that a single sentence stating an opinion with no rationale or justification doesn’t add to the conversation.

But let’s be honest, whatever “etiquette” may be, people here vote how they want, for whatever reason they want.

If it matters that much to you then you might prefer an instance where downvotes are disabled. Or, if you use an app, find one, like Voyager, that allows you to turn vote visibility off.

Why worry so much about someone who downvotes and won’t engage in discussion with you about what they downvoted?

I get that he’s been through a terrible event, but that’s all the more reason to understand why guns are so important. We’re always going to live in fear of the right because they embrace guns and OWN gun culture. Guns, you know the thing that’s designed to KILL. We’re legitimately and utterly fucked if/when the right turns on us. Who are we going to turn to when lefties are getting slaughtered in the streets?

IMO It’s this anti-gun policy policy that is the main detriment to left ideology in America. I get anti-gun can fly in other Western nations, but not in ours.

Oh but by “us”, you mean yourself of course.

I was offering advice as to why you should own them to protect your loved ones, but whatever. It makes no difference to me if you support freedom of defense or not. You’re an adult and you can weigh the risks and rewards. Just saying that this socialist won’t vote for candidates that would strip the proletariat of their means of defense. Maybe consider why he has that position on Firearms? Considering he was the victim of a school shooting as a child during one of the dozens that have happened since Columbine. Funny how school shootings are now old enough for their survivors to run for office. So maybe their stance is respectable, even if you don’t agree with it.

Maybe consider that it’s that very reason why guns are so important. You don’t see that the right are being groomed to hate and despise us to a violent degree? How are you going to defend yourself when some right-wing nut job busts into your home with full combat gear and an AR-15?

If the world was perfect I’d agree weapons have no place in society, but we’re very very far from a perfect world. If this giant rift in American society that has both sides violent towards each other hasn’t changed your mind on firearms IDK what to tell ya.

          My dude.

Literally the rest of the world doesn’t have this problem. So let’s start in that reality, unless you have a bunch of school shooting data to prove me wrong.

Australia is a great example of gun control policies and how they can be used to stop public shootings like they did in the 90’s. It worked there, and literally everywhere else it’s been adopted, including here in the US with the Brady Bill. (That lapsed long ago).

I own guns and use them. I also work in a field where they are used often.

So I know what I’m saying when I say that there absolutely should be compromises on what types of weapons are regulated, how they function, and we should without questions require a license to get one like a car. But a conversation about these things needs to actually happen for better options to be brought to the table.

Without Hogg and others, we’re left with a bunch of idiots that think doing nothing as our children get executed in schools is a necessity if we want to have fun with guns.

So I find it hard to agree with anything you just said as it’s mostly a made up terror fantasy you’re substituting as factual to skip over the actual conversation about gun regulations that need to be had.

The difference between your opinion and Hoggs is that his will effectively save children, and yours will let them die.

There’s absolutely a middle ground. And if you don’t like his policies, you should be the one finding that middle as you weren’t the one who was shot in school as a child for the crime of being American like Hogg was.

IDK, in this time where federal goons are going around roughing up civilians and even politicians so blatantly, I wouldn’t want to be caught with my pants down. Things aren’t exactly primed for anti-gun folks in the zeitgeist.

I’m no expert, but I’ve been around conservatives my whole life. Even the moderate ones are not moving one iota on guns. Unless they suffer directly they won’t even flinch on guns. IMO Dems should drop guns on their priority list until this Trump thing is long past us, if we’re so lucky.

And now you know why I said Hogg is a no-go for me, which is my opinion.

I don’t know why you had to insult me for stating my opinions. Surely you know that’s not an effective method to change an opinion. Hopefully those insults will save you when some gun-toting lunatic breaks in at night.

I’m aware of your opinion. I just don’t agree that now is a bad time to talk about kids dying. Because it’s never been a good time. I’ve been told to wait for a better time to have this conversation for two decades, and in that time there’s now hundreds more dead kids making it an even better reason to have this discussion.

We’re adults. We can talk about all the bad things that need fixed, and we can do it all at once while other bad things are happening. Thinking otherwise is how we let this problem grow this big. Becuase it’s been easier to be distracted by bigger priorities (9/11, 2008, Covid, etc) rather than actually work on a solution.

I’m not even advocating for banning guns at all. Just that we should have a conversation - one where we discuss what policy options could fix the accessibility problem of guns while still making your gun owning friends happy.

Yet, I can’t even seem to get close to having that conversation with you without you somehow feeling insulted. Followed by you threatening me with violence you assume will occur to me despite me already saying I own guns and know how to use them.

Why is it that the biggest 2A supporters are the ones who run the fastest away from the adult conversation we need to have about guns in this country? Because at least Hogg isn’t running away from the topic like you are just because it’s a “bad time”

So of course you don’t agree with him. The point I’m making is that if you don’t, it should be you talking about it instead of postponing the conversation further. That’s how kids die. And from my position, at least Hogg is trying to stop it instead of burying his head in the sand as you have advocated for.

So let me make this very clear: Fuck Democrats who want to ban guns, I just want them to be at least as hard to obtain as a car.

And that unfortunately makes me more closer aligned to Hogg. But at least I’m talking about it.

With the way things are going I don’t blame you. Leftists should be arming. It is VERY clear that right wing in this country is a death cult that wants us all in the ground.
