No, mental health is usually a totally separate coverage plan than health. Because why not make things a lot more complex and harder for people who need help? It’s like dental with completely different deductibles of their own, because your mouth isn’t a health issue…

Because it has inelastic demand, meaning I’m going to pay for it even if the cost is very high.

That’s why is run for profit. Its also why it shouldn’t be, but certainly why it is.

Maybe if we as a society just stopped playing the game and had a system we could all use as the safety deposit box for Healthcare. If only there was some sort of system in place today that could collect money from us and without being motivated by profit provide Healthcare. Imagine all the recovered productivity once benefits teams don’t need to hold a meeting each year and explain. How hard they worked to minimize the now expected annual increase in costs. If only.

I was told that calling people names would just alienate them, and that you should instead be trying to understand.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. Sorry. If the majority of you feel that way, I’m probably gonna be leaving Lemmy.

Two wrongs don’t make a right, but if a wrong today prevents millions of wrongs tomorrow, I think that’s a little different. The directive of that man was for the insurance company he led to deny lifesaving care to people which is effectively a death sentence to them. This isn’t one life versus another, it’s one life versus a fucking swath of others.

Executing a man in the street is evil, but let’s not pretend that it’s more evil than the white collar mass murder that he was ordering.

Yeah this guy probably had a LinkedIn page bragging about how much he’s done, so he can get paid the most to do it.

He almost certainly publicly touted his efforts (if not on LinkedIn, another way) to deny people healthcare, so he could make more money. This is not a way to earn my empathy when it backfires.

Killing an enemy during war isn’t a wrong.

Killing millions through capitalistic greed is wrong.

          The shooter is a hero.
