        Because it has inelastic demand, meaning I’m going to pay for it even if the cost is very high.

        That’s why is run for profit. Its also why it shouldn’t be, but certainly why it is.

          Maybe if we as a society just stopped playing the game and had a system we could all use as the safety deposit box for Healthcare. If only there was some sort of system in place today that could collect money from us and without being motivated by profit provide Healthcare. Imagine all the recovered productivity once benefits teams don’t need to hold a meeting each year and explain. How hard they worked to minimize the now expected annual increase in costs. If only.

      No, mental health is usually a totally separate coverage plan than health. Because why not make things a lot more complex and harder for people who need help? It’s like dental with completely different deductibles of their own, because your mouth isn’t a health issue…
