It’s pretty neat to me that we’ve created this weird language around laugh onomatopoeia.
There’s a very different tone and meaning between “ha”, “hah”, “haha”, “hahah” and “hahaha”, and I think most people can pick up on it with very little exposure without ever actually being told the difference, or even being able to explain the difference in words. I’d be willing to bet that 30 years ago, it would have been far less of a ubiquitous experience.
I am not sure what that hah and hahah variants mean to be honest, not sure if I ever saw them in real life.
So what’s the difference?
Here’s a great article about the nuances of various options.
What about lol squad?
Aw boo, the damn thing won’t let me load a video of me laughing to this joke, which would be kind of a mediocre chuckle where you could sense a subtle lack of sincerity.
🤣
hahaha
( ਊ ∇ਊ)
I enjoyed this meme and it made me chuckle, but I was kind of scared of what I would find in the comment section, then I realised that I am in the meme, and no, I’m not clicking on that link. Not even a little bit. 😬
People who verbatim type “skull emoji”:
people who verbatim say skull emoji
Literally every single possibly reply is cringe, so I stopped trying
Skill issue
It’s not an issue if I don’t see it as one 🧠📈📈📈📈📈📈📈📈
You can say something like nice or good one, or react to the message with an appropriate or intentionally silly emoji
💀
Bro cringe.
:(
What about people who reply 💯 to everything?
💯💯

better than the ones who SAY 100%.

My friend and I still use “xD”, has this gone extremely out of fashion since I left middle school?
no, its still standard teen lango, at least here in Germany.
i use it and wonder what people think when i do. they never seem to react negatively. maybe they’re silently judging me
Yes.
Considering I’ve heard a few people say “xD”, probably not. But hey, probably not that weird, there’s UwU which is often read that way.
^^
I once broke up with someone because he couldn’t stop using ^^ after every sentence even in the middle of a serious discussion/argument
Peter I swear to God if this is how we meet again I’ll lose it
Sarah, is this you?^^ Please, come back!^^ LYSM xoxoxo Peter
I’ve used xD since I began using the internet as a kid and I have no plans of stopping.
Been using it since early 2k AOL/IRC chat and will continue to use it and also

I rarely use emojis
I picked up

From somewhere ages ago and I find myself doing it by reflex now, that’s like the only one of those I ever really used but boy did it stick. The little bit of offset on the eyes in most fonts really gives it that je ne sais quoi that I crave.
RuneScape got me out of the habit of doing this because it always forced the first letter to be a capital and the remaining to be lower-case.
Xd
just doesn’t have the same ring to itIt’s the children who are wrong
lol

When you’re using push-to-talk in a voice chat lobby, and someone tells a really funny joke. Do y’all mic up so the homie knows you think they’re funny? Especially in lobbies where everyone is using PTT it can be really awkward when someone tells a joke, there’s silence for a second or two (while everyone laughs off-mic) and then one person meekishly keys up with a “heheheh”
Me and the boys usually use voice activation but on the occasions when there’s ptt in a game or we went ptt for whatever reason we always mic up for the giggling
i love it when everything goes quiet and after 20 seconds, someone just wheezes into the mic
:D is acceptable.
That’s a grin though, it could mean being smug about what you just said.
:D
I only ever use :D when I’m trying to be passive aggressive lol
Interesting, because I use :) for that instead.
:P also works pretty well in my experience.
