He’s right but fuck Chomsky sideways with a running rusted chainsaw for being a genocide denier and a red washed realist as bad as Kissenger.
being a genocide denier
This is you though? https://lemm.ee/comment/14484375
Because not stopping a roll towards a wall is exactly the same as hitting the fucking accelerator.
Your politics would see us Palestinians all massacred on the altar of “well the dems would have been the same anyways!”
Doesn’t sound much like genocide denial.
TIL being tired of white kids using your people’s struggle as an excuse to refuse doing the bare minimum to reduce harm is genocide denial.
Motherfucker you just pulled up on the side of people trying to justify letting it get worse. Sit the hell down.
What specific are you referring to here?
They don’t think one is happening in gaza/is something to worry about
He denies the Bosnian Genocide and thinks everyone who split from Soviet Colonialism are ungrateful brats
Also playing apologist for the Khmer Rouge, and urging Ukraine to give up to Russia’s “legitimate security concerns”.
It has its drawbacks.
“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”
― Isaac Asimov
Democracy only works properly with good access to factual information and good education.
which is why in America, certain parties are proposing banning books and cutting funding to education. They want to make sure their base stays stupid enough to vote for them.
Also why billionaires and industrials bought out so many different media over the years.
I prefer Parenti’s quote on democracy
Democracy is a wonderful invention by the people over history to protect themselves from the power of wealth. That’s what democracy was in Greece, that’s what democracy has been ever since. It’s an invention of the people, nobody else but the people. There’s no great philosopher that invented democracy, there’s no great political theorist that thought about it and put it together, there’s no great intellectual or writer or artist who created democracy! It was the mass of people! Anonymous, ordinary working people, working women and working men, people trying to survive, they’re the ones that fought for it and they’re the ones that gained whatever modicum of decency and security we might have in this inhumane capitalist system throughout history.
