stfu! Glorious hippodrome gaming chariot race

Doesn’t even have a hippo. SMH my head.
Um… acshelly! Hippo in Greek means horse.
* Pushes glasses up nose bridge.
Hippopotamus means river horse, I don’t think whoever named these things has ever seen a horse.
Horses might have looked different back in the day
In danish a hippo is called a “flodhest”, also meaning river horse.
Rødgrød med flodhest
Only for the most special of times

I got no use for a console with no racing games. I’ll be over here playing my hippodrome.
By this logic, the greatest modern console is the smartphone.
i mean, slap a controller on a smartphone and it is actually pretty solid, so maybe youve got a point…
Hippodrome also looks like a fairly decent Jousting Pitch
Must be a supporter of the Blues
Another game for the Colosseum: Overwatch.
One of them had hooligans with real influence on politics in the Byzantine empire.
Plus chariot racing wasn’t even hippodrome exclusive
joke aside, the Hippodrome was your common low key football game, with betting and people going crazy. The Colloseum on the other side was a special occasion where you better looked your best and behaved, as a spectator. Hollywood never got the memo.
The last time I went to the colosseum they dragged a rapist out of retirement for a big bout and he only lasted 69 seconds after talking so much shit.
I paid 15,000 asses for a ticket to that fight
Okay but a lot of those Colosseum games are just the same cookiecutter format with different branding.
“Gladiator combat” “Barbarian Battle” “Martyrs” it’s the same shit with different characters.
“Man vs. Beast” “Hunting Simulator” YAWN
At least the later gen hippodromes added a variety of jousting tournaments…
I think you mean “same game, different skin,” right?
Yeah, true
excuse me! we had both chariot races and slave chariot races. that’s TWO games
Did you hear they were working on horse races? I know quite antiquated, but they were adding horse TORCH races this time! How novel!
You mean they torch the horses then race them?
No! But that would be much more interesting…
The circus maximus (the big hippodrome in Rome) also hosted gladiatorial fights and athletics competitions. The meme is misleading in the way it selects the venues.
Horse race tracks rent out to different groups for conventions and such when not racing horses - I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened in ancient Rome too.
I do feel like the amount of people required to staff the colloseum is like two orders of magnitude higher than a racetrack
