My grandpappy lived alone, doing a monthly newsletter and genealogy/family tree stuff in some program until he died at 92!

        Nice.

I have no question, just wanted to comment “nice”. Reading the comments I wanted to say I’m surprised, but then I remberered my grandpa is over 90 and he’s the one who taught me to use computers in the first place. DOS commands to launch games and users Win3.11 really, but still.

Nice seeing representation of older people here, thanks for posting!

I genuinely have to ask because I no longer am able to differentiate sarcasm on the internet, but were you being snarky or did you actually want to know if a grown-ass adult managed to figure out using a website all by themselves?

Fully serious. I have taught many people varying levels of computer and web usage and using lemmy at 80 is impressive imo. At that age many people just do not have the physical capabilities (stable hands, vision, etc) to use a computer or even smartphone. My 85 year old grandparents for example can only use a computer together. He is completely mentally fit, but has very shaky hands, while she is very demented, but has perfectly good physical health. So together they are still able to do messaging and video calls :)

Look at Biden and Trump, they have all the money and health support you can imagine but they are visibly falling apart at the same age. I dont think either of those two would be able to use lemmy without issues. Of course the age at which you can still do these kinds of things varies greatly from person to person, but 80 is the average life expectancy for most western countries.

Thank you! Can I be a little bit vulgar? My wife and I moved to Thailand 2 years ago after our son turned 18 and started college. These days I like sunbathing naked, swimming (skinning dipping!!!), working out, having sex (especially getting my cock sucked), drinking great alcohol (especially wine and cocktails), listening to music, reading, binge watching movies and TV shows (I love Stremio!!!), getting massages, watching YouTube, hot tubbing, water sports, jogging… say yes to everything, you only end up regretting what you didn’t do.

First of all: Happy Birthday! Hope your year was good, and the next one will be good or even better as well!

Then, the important question: Favourite dinosaur?

Also, as it pertains to your username: Will you be drinking wine on Sunday? If so, which one(s)?

Thank you! Not a dinosaur, but the Titanoboa. Definitely! I think I’ll pop a bottle of Cayuse Bionic Frog Syrah.

What was it like working a minimum wage job and being able to support a wife and 2 kids, a house, and several holidays a year?

Good. That’s how things should be still. Though admittedly, that wasn’t my experience as I was never a minimum wage worker.

Happy birthday! How would you describe your proficiency with technology? I saw you’re on Lemmy all by yourself, so it seems like you’re pretty good at it.

Looking back, what is the biggest global event you have experienced, from a historical perspective?

Wow, I lived that one too. I thought maybe the moon landing or the fall of the Soviet Union would be bigger. I was surprised and enjoyed reading your opinion. Thanks.

I’m almost 33 and so far I’m in way better shape than I was in my mid to late twenties. Started eating better, exercising more frequently, and quit drinking. If you take care of yourself and didn’t roll low on genetics I don’t think thirties is where it’ll be the worst
