They hem and haw and refuse to report news that could warrant a future retraction—which, by the way, is a stupid take, as news is temporal and current and what they’re reporting currently is in the interest of some unknown future verdict rather than the one before us now. So, given that they choose to report whatever is most favorable for future corporate interest despite damning current events, I have to conclude that it’s because journalists are prevented from doing their actual jobs by media conglomerates who will always side with capital. How does that twist your words exactly?

She wrote a book I read in high school called Black Water, about the true story of Senator Ted Kennedy who drove into a river while ludicrously intoxicated and with a young girl of no consequence as his passenger in the car. He gets himself out of car and lives, but she drowns within it. He received no punishment and this was, for the most part, covered up. Succession on HBO also had an episode that paid homage to this dark bit of American history (for a fun bit of trivia).

Anyway, she’s a great writer and captures these little vignettes on human nature in really intriguing ways. I recommend you read her work. In fact, this makes me feel like perhaps I should give that book a reread as well.

I think if we use that big ball of slightly wrinkled goop between our left ear and right ear, we might infer that she is simply supplying a list of hobbies and interests which people generally all have at least a few of. We might then use something called imagination to further supplement this list with unreferenced items in the original tweet because a thorough recounting might lose in spirit a bit of its charm with that style of execution

Yeah the Japanese weren’t exactly doing great things at the time but their failure to offer a complete and immediate surrender following the collapse of the Nazi regime did not and could never justify the two most horrific, apocalyptic single attacks ever committed against a civilian population. I have a different take, as a woman who has not once in my life called a man at “u up?” hours, woken him from a dead slumber with an offer to come over, and then kept him up until 5 am playing video games and chatting:

In any culture that does not have strict religious guidelines, the interpretation would be that you booty called him. He woke up and came over because it seemed like you were offering a booty call. He was nice about it, but he told you he had things to do in the morning, and what you asked of him was an actual disruption to his day. He may like you, but what you did was inconsiderate.

If he is a good guy worthy of good relationships, what you did last night may well be unworthy of him. People are not play things to be called up and used to alleviate insomnia, especially when they make it known they have responsibilities the next day (something I’m sure would not have come up unless he was hinting at wanting to sleep) and you are content to have them stay up all night entertaining you instead.

In my mind, this goes one of two ways. Either he is happy to have the attention and still wants to pursue something with you, or you’ve just given him an ick. Whichever it is, that’s really for him to find out and relay to you, but I would apologize for keeping him up regardless, because I would’ve been annoyed in his place.

It was my thought that the produce, meat, and staples seemed to be the bargains people were talking about, not the processed stuff. But yeah, the produce section disgusted me so much I just wouldn’t go back. Bags and bags of rotting garlic, soft onions, bruised and spoiling fruit and veg — I just was like “nope,” went to the only employee I could find in the store at checkout and let them know their produce section had a lot of spoiled product, put my cart back, and left

Maybe I’m stupid and speculating on this accurately isn’t in my wheelhouse but that frog looks awfully lumpy and whatever glazing it has looks spotty at best, without a good shine to it. I personally wouldn’t want to use a mug of this quality for fear of food safety, regardless of what you’ve said.
