I think you’ll find if you keep peeling back more US propaganda layers China is much more representative of the collective than you might think. A lot of what we are taught about China and the USSR is just a direct lie.
For example, the tianamen square massacre narrative we are told is almost entirely a lie. They did not just open fire on crowds of civilians. For one, I recommend trying to find a source for the full tank man video (it’s kind of a pain since US media always cuts it off). I was told in school when we watched it that the guy was ran over by the tank. He actually just walks up and climbs on the tank, opens the hatch, and has a conversation with the soldier. This is after the soldier yells at him for a few minutes begging him to move. Then the guy climbs down and walks away. It’s tempting to say this was AI, but I first saw the video before AI video really existed.
The also leave out all the fucked up shit the protesters did. Like taking PLA soldiers and mutilating them before setting them on fire.
Can you imagine what the US would do to you if you tried to stop a tank? You’d likely be taken to a black site and have your skin peeled off.
Important to note that their democratic structures could use some work, at very least for social policies. I think the top down centralism does work well for economics and defense where the average person cannot be expected to understand the intricacies.
A lot of Christians will say no to believing in Aliens but because they believe God created humans and gave us the universe.
Or in a similar vain, because aliens aren’t mentioned in the Bible they don’t think they are real.
True I almost didn’t add that. Liberals in principle do not but I know a lot of people who call themselves liberals that do.
At least one of the boots has a functional healthcare system, high speed rail, 95%+ home ownership, no property taxes (except at point of sale), a good education system, etc.

To be clear, I’m not dunking on Bernie or AOC. Their intentions might be in the right place.
I’m saying the system will only allow so much muckraking. The ruling class ultimately determines who is on your ballot in the first place.
Then you have the list of other problems like first past the post voting, voter ID laws (poll tax), gerrymandering, the electoral college, and the fact that electorates are not legally required to vote the way their representatives vote in the election.
Its possible for both to be true. Id much prefer a ranked choice voting system.
What’s also important would be to 1) unionize businesses over a certain size 2) convert those businesses to worker Cooperatives
A worker cooperative is a business that is owned collectively by all the employees and decisions are made through democracy (structure depending on application).
Some countries have had programs where unions can buy shares of the company they represent and the government will match it. Then either the union eventually owns the majority shares and it effectively becomes a worker cooperative or the state and the union own majority shares.
Tldw; liberals still want capitalism and the class hierarchy it creates. They just want capitalism that is supportive of gay and black people and social safety nets.
Those are all great in the context of US politics. But things like universal healthcare shouldn’t even be part of the debate, they should just be the standard expectation.
Bernie is a centrist at best. Things like civil rights are bare minimum, I’m talking about fundamental workers rights like the right to unionize, repealing Taft-Hartley, setting up matching programs with unions so that they can buy up their companies and become worker cooperatives, etc.
I believe Bernie is more based than centrism in his real views, but his public views are centrist at best.
He exists to deal with the revolutionary energy that is building and make people feel like their voices are being heard under the current establishment. But the reality is that you need corporate backing to win an election in the US by design. It is a corporate oligarchy, not a democracy

Name one left wing policy Democrats have executed in the past 20 years.
They actively block unions when we should be setting up matching programs so that unions can buy up their companies and convert them to worker cooperatives
We should be building high speed rail and getting rid of cars in favor of walkable cities and public transport.
We should be building infrastructure from renewable energy to water delivery systems.
We need a massive increase on corporate taxes and taxes on the rich. I’m even down for a wealth cap at $5 million.
We can’t even get basic center-right policies like banning politicians from trading stocks or making sure politicians have frozen assets while in office to prevent them from using their position for their own gain.
To be left wing you have to side with workers rights over property rights, People over employers. That is why the left starts at anti-capitalism.

Gen Z is not the same thing as Gen Alpha. Gen Z grew up on PC.
“Redneck” was literally a labor movement term before it became a insult for poor rural people. During the Coalfield Wars (1910s-20s), Appalachian miners—many wearing red bandanas as a union symbol (“red necks”)—waged open war against corporately bought private armies and the US military. The Battle of Blair Mountain (1921) saw 10,000+ armed miners (called rednecks by both sides) fighting cops and strikebreakers in the largest labor uprising in U.S. history. Socialists like Eugene Debs even rallied these “rednecks” as class warriors. The term got whitewashed later, but it started as a badge of honor for strikers.
I’m not at all saying this is how I feel.
I was raised a Christian and considered myself one until I reached the age of reason. So I have some insight into how they think.
