“Red One,” the Christmas flick starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, attracted 50 million worldwide viewers in its opening weekend on Prime Video.
Is it free for Prime subscribers? I’m curious, but not enough to PAY for it. ;) My wife pays for Prime.
It is
Subscription Services you pay for aren’t free
Yeah but there’s also shit you have to pay for on top of that with prime. Basically it’s on-demand rental, not really part of the offer.
Caught it today, TWICE, it’s unexpectedly delightful!
IMDB has it listed with a budget of approx $350,000,000 which is insane!
A huge amount of the budget is the fucking cast. I hear the rock got $50m by himself ffs.
I’m guessing that all went to VFX. It’s got some good visuals for sure.
My brother in law almost made me watch this movie the other day. He was excited. The social media era is really lowering standards across the board.
Honestly, why would you invest in a good script, good FX… If people are going to spend 90% of your movie scrolling through reels? Better just have famous people and a clickbait trailer and you look like a respectable company that’s worth all that subscription money.
Wife and I watched about ten minutes. I don’t think it’s for us. Kinda tired of Dwayne.
In other news, “Carry On” on Netflix was decent. Not great, but for a streaming movie, it was watchable. The leads definitely helped that one.
Agreed. I like Dwayne but it feels like he’s playing the same role in the same way in every movie at this point.
I wouldn’t have said that a few years ago, but I think Bautista is trying a lot harder to be an actual actor instead of just a big name for marketing. And seeing the roles he’s had recently, I think it’s working.
I remember reading a bit of an interview with Bautista that said he didn’t want to be typecast as the big gorilla-sized henchmen or strongman in every movie. He has a great range imo. I loved his small part in Bladerunner 2049 at the beginning of the movie
Bautista is definitely the better actor and seems like the better human being as well.
I enjoyed both. Neither blew me away but for fun holiday date movies they’re decent.
