I think his point is when you are far enough on any side of the spectrum, everyone else gets lumped together with the more problematic version of the opposition.
Capitalists aren’t fascists but I wouldn’t be surprised to read an essay from someone on the far-left making that point.
Socialists aren’t communists but you can frequently see this point being made by the far right.
This collective false dichotomy complex is a direct result of FPTP and the erosion of the education system having made choosing governance a team sport

A lot of far left theory sees fascism as a result of capitalism. To defend the private property from the socialists one needs a group that zealously defends some in-group where the capitalists belong against some outgroup that contains the socialists. Something along those lines

What do you mean? The fight against communism is well-known because they don’t recognize the validity of the concept of property, hence natural ennemies to capitalists for sure.
But a lot of the “bourgeoisie” put their capital towards the tyrannical nature of a failing monarchy turning fascist in their methods.

I actually operate an indoor rock climbing group and didn’t even realise how many of them were gay until years of climbing with them. 2 of them I’m still not sure. 1 of them I only figured it out because they had a climbing shirt on with a lgbtiq climbing community logo on it (and they actually operate that organisation)
The hilarious part of the whole thing is that they spent years trying to trigger libs. But ultimately online, they’ve managed to create their own self sustaining trigger circle that mainly affects them. That they use to accumulate their whining. Whereas the rest of us now just see them as crazies.
That doesn’t mean there are people on the left who aren’t crazy. But, that seems confined online. Whereas the right often seem to extend it offline because many seemingly don’t know the difference between reality and conspiracy theories anymore
One thing you’ll notice about the right wing is that so many of them have a huge number of comments. Probably because most of them I suspect are retirees who jerked around during high school. It’s easy to comment when there is no attempt at supporting evidence

You would think so, but there’s a certain user here who expects us all to play along with their stated gender. Their stated gender is the name of a mythical animal.
Somehow no one has played along.
Other than that specific person though, I have yet to meet a queer person who had an issue with being called ‘they/them’ even if their preferred pronouns are ‘zir’ or whatever. My wife works with multiple nonbinary people (librarians are an eclectic bunch). None of them expect you to call them by their preferred pronoun. They just don’t want you to intentionally misgender them either.

Nope. They got pissed off that I called them not just “them,” but “you.”
And I explained to them that both of those pronouns are gender-neutral and that they apply to everyone and I would be willing to use them on anyone. Now they’re following me around and harassing me for doing things like using ‘he’ when referring to Caillou. As in the cartoon toddler.

True, but there are there differing approaches to socialism: MLs want authoritarian socialism (government runs everything), while Democratic Socialists usually want a hybrid of market socialism (co-ops) and government run socialism for needs that free market co-ops cannot address. And then there are libertarian socialists who want only worker owned co-ops and syndicates. Finally, we have SocDems that want indirect socialism where strong regulations and labor protections try to achieve socialist goals through capitalism.
There’s nothing more leftist than saying other leftists aren’t real leftists. Congratulations.

You know how I know what they think? It’s how I was raised. It’s the literal words that came out of their mouths. Luckily it’s been years since anyone other than a Jehovah’s Witness tried to convert me to anything and I just tell them “I think god is dead so I’m trying to get on Satan’s good side by having sex outside of marriage and killing. Which do you prefer?”
