While I agree that the secret service is selective, the warren commission did have some highlights that suggest these guys were still humans who fuck around and, occassionally, find out:
Nine of the twenty-eight Secret Service men who were in Dallas with the president the day he died had been out in local clubs until the early hours of the morning—in one case until five a.m. Three of the Secret Service agents riding a few feet from the president in the follow-up car had been, by their own accounts, up very late and drinking, an activity prohibited in the Secret Service rulebook.
Also, they were armed with new AR-15 rifles, which not all of them had been trained to handle yet. The rookie who, by his own admission, was handling the rifle in the following car said he fell (he was standing up) and believed the weapon discharged as the car accelerated, as his hand automatically gripped tighter due to the sudden acceleration. This is further muddied by the fact that the SS probably stole parts of the remains to cover up the fact they might have accidentally killed JFK.
