Malort.
Smirnoff Vodka, that shit tastes like cologne.
Beer.
Typical British tea. I’m British and definitely an outlier but the typical black tea with milk and sugar is revolting to me. I love green, oolong, some black, yellow, white etc though.
I tried Red Bull once and it tasted like shit medicine juice. Never tried it again.
Saw several coffees mentioned and that got me wondering.
I have had good cafe coffee once in my life. Most of the cafes make sugar nonsense. When I order black coffee, it’s a coin flip between burnt bitter mess and fucking battery acid.
Now what are the chances that many people haven’t had a decent cup of black coffee?
I don’t know why but in my country is very widespread the torrefacto coffee, that shit is disgususting, and almost everywhere you order coffee is always torrefacto (except in proper coffee shops, they are getting popular lately).
And in lot of places they make it even worse, so I would say that the chances are pretty high here.
I’ve had this thought as well. In the US, most people’s first experience with coffee is months old Folgers or Starbucks. These two examples are both burnt and taste like battery acid. So, of course they’re going to hate coffee.
That’s wild, I’ve enjoyed most coffee I’ve had. I can’t actually think of one I didn’t enjoy, maybe a burnt roast a decade back? But yeah definitely different tastes.
The thing is most chain cafes here only serve coffee from an espresso machine and most people here are familiar only with chain cafes. So best case they tried americano type of drink, which to me is always very harsh.
You know in retrospect I am in Sydney and never really went to chains so I might have been spoilt
Energy drinks.
Like okay, Monster Java to me is awesome to have once in a while. But, I’ve tried numerous energy drinks in the past and the flavors don’t always hit. I’m drinking some overly artificial liquid garbage and it’s telling me that it’s “Strawberry Aggression” on the can.
If you tried just one energy drink or two just for variety, you’ve tried them all.
I can’t get into sparkling water either.
All of the coffee flavoured energy drinks give me the turbo shits, hadn’t had any of them until recently so got a set imported, couldn’t work out what it was until I ran out of the cans and went back to normal (will agree they taste alright, if no a little like cafeteria coffee with UHT milk and plain sugar)
But I will argue that the European flavours actually taste like real fruits, you don’t get the petrochemical derived colours and flavours aftertaste that they try to mask with acidity in the US versions.
It’s why gamersupps is king - flavours taste like they’re supposed to, the only sour ones are intentionally so, and they replaced sugar with sucralose, so you dont get that stevia/artificial sweetener taste.
Which one specifically give you the shits. I want to gift it to a friend.
For me it’s anything diet or zero branded. Fucking aspertane. That bitter aftertaste just feels like someone raped the sugar out of the beverage.
Sucralose and Acesulfame are nearly just as disgusting to me. Stevia is the only one I can drink.
I’ve never looked up which exact sweetener is bitter to me, aspertane just seems very common. However, there have been no sugar free drink I’ve enjoyed.
Don’t get me wrong. These sweeteners are sweet, but then there’s this long lingering chemical bitterness. And it fucking stays in the mouth like onions or some shit.
Weird fact about it, it has the same amount of calories per gram as sugar too! It just happens to be approximately 200x sweeter, so they can add 200x less.

ITT: People answering “drinks I don’t like but others do”, which has nothing to do with the OP. But to be fair OPs question is not really anything that can be answered objectively anyway, since taste is very subjective. So one person not liking it does not mean that other peope who claims they like the same thing are lying, they most likely really do like it.
Anyway, the thread would probably have been more relevant if OP had asked “Something you don’t like, but is liked by others?”.
- Alcohol generally, beer more specifically.
I dont particularly like the taste of alcohol, and beer is just way to bitter for me generally. Ive had some wine that was decent, and occasionally ill have a cider, but I generally just don’t understand why people drink alcohol.
- Energy Drinks.
I don’t get why people like them, they taste awful. Red bull in particular makes me wanna throw up. Its so carbonated and so bitter they add so much sugar, and then you just get this sweet-bitter taste that is just awful.
I think people don’t actually like energy drinks, they are just caffeine dependent.
I absolutely love the taste of energy drinks. The more artificial and tangy, the better. It’s hard to find, but there’s a soda that tastes like an energy drink without the caffeine and I buy it whenever I can.
I’m glad I’m not the only one. For some reason I like that generic energy drink flavoured energy drink.
which drink is that?
It’s called “Illicit Cola”, I have no idea how regional it is
Sometimes I just want some chemicals.

I really enjoy the taste of alcohol, especially strong drinks like rum. I drink it neat and it’s amazing.
The bitterness of beer is also pleasant for me.We have a saying (wouldn’t be surprised if it exists in English as well) — taste has no friends. It’s all subjective.
what language is that saying from?
closest I can think of in USAmerican English would be “the customer is always right in matters of taste” (though it’s commonly shortened to just “the customer is always right” and the context and similarity to your quote are both lost)
personally, a saying I use a lot that’s in a similar vein is “to each their own”
The equivalent phrase in English is “there’s no accounting for taste”
Lithuanian.
The customer one we definitely took from English speaking world and even then it isn’t much of a thing.
I’ve never liked beer, most other alcohols I could drink very little. Recently I’ve found some really good ciders, they don’t have any of that bitterness that beer has. So far an unfiltered cider is the best.
Carbonated flavored water. I do not understand how people can drink something that’s only claim to flavoring is that it at some point sat near a fruit of some kind.
Carbonara flavored water 😏
I like them. It has a little flavor and no sugar. It’s basically water but with a little variety.
Mineral water, or bubbly water. Bubbly mineral water. It’s all gross and I’m tired of pretending it’s not.
Just a question. Where are you from?
Uuu… Gimme them bubbles. Way more refreshing for me than still water.
Somehow it does the opposite for me. It makes me feel more thirsty, even though I know that’s not the reality. I guess it just makes my mouth feel dry?
After commenting this I remembered that I do have a thing for textures in food. I dislike blended soups and need something to chew.
I guess bubbles fit that bill.
Just skimmed through the thread. You know what beverage I don’t see in here? Ginger Ale, because it is objectively amazing.
If you like that bite, you might also try (non-alcoholic) birch beer. It’s generally stronger.
if that’s the case Irn Bru is also on that list…though it’s an acquired taste.
Matcha. Every everyone says it’s this wonderful day and when I try it it’s like drinking blended lawn clippings.
Matcha does taste like grass, I agree, and I still like it. I guess if I ate grass I probably wouldn’t hate it, at least from a taste perspective
It’s delicious. I also love sencha. Black coffee is also superior compared to the sugar bomb coffee drinks most of the country drinks.
Look, I champion black coffee wherever I can. I drink it decaf…
But I draw the line at matcha. Don’t lie to yourself.
Lmao your opinion is already compromised with the self admission of decaf coffee which in itself is an oxymoron.
It’s like saying sugar free Frappuccino!
What country? Sounds shit
USA. 99% of people drink Starbucks/Dutch Bros. Drinks that have 500+ calorie starting points before the modify them to hell and back and turn them into a 1000 calorie meal.
A large part of obesity epidemic around here is all of the empty calorie drinks.
