I just finished 1260 pages epic by China Mievelle The Rouse. and i think I need to re-read this thing again. holy fuck what a ride. 12 days to finish with a day of drinking in between. This is one of the best books I have ever read.

The writing is very modernist with disjointed prose constantly switching between action and stream of consciousness, shifting back and forth with time and reset in next paragraph. the book is 32 parts with 4 chapters in each part. 2 of them follow one timeline which is a woman journey and grief in recent timeline. And 2 other chapters in each part follows a 1950s British army soldier. Somehow these are interrelated.

most of it is set during cold War when we follow the soldier story.

there is a lot of references to leftist revolutionary figures, western imperialism, gladio other euro CIA like orgs and stuff. Lots of references to other international things as well which I cant say.

I pre-ordered this book and went in totally blind didnt even read the blurb. I didnt know the genre of this or anything. Didnt even look at tags on goodreads or whatever. extremely surprised. also very beautiful writing

This is not really theory but inspired me to look at other countries revolutionary movements.

This only happens in my Latin America 🥴

Hitler Mussolini won the municipal election in Cerro Patoso, Peru, with 34.54% of the vote.

So, I voted for the first time in my life. Every politician here sucks a lot, but at least I wasn’t apolitical for the 21st year of my life.

Given that Bolsonaro might win in one way or another, I don’t know why the possibility of another military dictatorship in Brazil doesn’t scare me. Gave me some motivation, strangely enough. The terror must not have set in yet.

Rent is insane in The Netherlands. You need an income of like 5700 euro to be able to rent an average apartment. In my nothing of importance city the average rent is like 1600 euro. Back in Antwerp I was able to live in the middle of the city center for 900-1000 euro no questions asked about income. Government controlled housing is an option but you are in the race with hundreds of others for a single home.

I’m gonna need a partner just to get a place.

My little brother just moved to Rotterdam for a year with his dutch girlfriend, 1850 euro for rent – albeit it was a nice large apartment in the city center. That’s 3 times the rent I pay here in Sweden! Although with how much my rent is rising maybe I’m there soon enough, at least if we count per m².

Germany is a little better but i can definitely see it heading in that same direction for the major cities. Even outside the major cities it’s already rare to find anything under 9€/m². And the median income is lower than in the Netherlands.

People really need to be out en masse to stop it. One of my friends managed to buy a house and he now pays 600 euro less in mortgage compared to rent. Landleeches are raking in stupid amounts of money because muh free market.

I think I would be actually because I don’t think those kind of people care enough about each other to fake his death and keep their mouths shut about it. Like what would be the point, from their point of view? If he were still alive, there’d be risk of him getting caught and then talking/leaking secrets to save his own hide. The more straightforward, gangster-state explanation is that he was too much in the crosshairs of the US legal system, pathetic as it is at stopping predators, and so somebody with lots of money (and there were loads tied to his name who could have been freaked out enough to do it) put a hit out on him to stop him from talking.

I have not, but I doubt that would change anything for me. If the implication is supposed to be that the footage suggests a faked death, why would they let footage like that get out in the first place if they’re going to the trouble to conspire to fake a death.

Same reason they released any of the epstein files. Its a mix of inter-bourgeoisie power struggles and giving people rabbit holes where they get lost in the dark instead of finding the light of Dialectical Materialism and Class Consciousness.

Well a thing like “he might still be alive” sounds like a rabbit hole to get lost in to me. Whether he’s dead or alive, he was only ever the tip of an iceberg. I mean, if we had a robust Prole Detective Agency and the means with which to bring people like him to justice, I’d say, leave no stone unturned, but the resources aren’t even there to properly investigate assassinations of BLM organizers. One thing we do know is Yankee power brokers sure love their assassinations. They’ve been doing it to sovereign leaders of countries for decades. Possibly including their own based on what one believes about the nature of JFK’s assassination.

But faking a death to save somebody like Epstein? I don’t know, what precedent is there for that. I spose one could say “well it wouldn’t be out in the open if there was”, but like, what precedent is there for people having good reason to believe this is something the empire has done in the past? There’s plenty of precedent for assassination that’s known.

Epstein was just the logistics guy. You can’t convince me that all these famous and powerful people who were there abusing children and women somehow stopped once Epstein died. They found another supplier, be it one or just multiple more spread out.

If Epstein turned out to be alive it would have the same impact as if he were dead. The people complicit in this still walk among us and many of them still hold their positions of power. It doesn’t matter if they get their fix from Epstein or some other guy if there are no consequences.

The movie “Once Upon a Time in the Middle East” looks very promising.

As context, the movie portraits a Chinese chef as the protagonist that is dragged into the US invasion of Iraq and uses his tiny Chinese restaurant to protect civilians.

Hope it reaches the movie theater in my country. I will finally have something good to look forward to instead of the usual US movie slop that comes to my country.

I saw it two days ago in China. like it very much. but do not believe that it is a Comedy-Drama. there are some funny moments, but it very hard to watch (graphic scenes, death, murder,…)

DSA is a social fascist party, y’all were right the whole time. I will admit I was interested in what kind of impact they could have within the imperial core early on, but now? Fuck’em.
