I have to be careful with burgers because my garbage cat rescue will actively try and steal them after sniff inspecting.

I let my Willow sniff-test a lot of my food. usually I know he wouldn’t find interest in it, but I did lose a few shrimp to him one time

My cat smells what i take out of the fridge, just in case it is chicken.

She also likes to have breakfast with me, and asks for some milk or cottage (this is a day each 2 weeks)

There are 2 cats inside of my home:

    • One of them smells and then steals my food
    • The other one smells and then looks disgusted at my food

        This is the stealing one:

and that is the disgusted one:

I have to add that the disgusted one for the first time in her life actually accepted an offering of a nice slice of ham a few days ago, so she might be changing her opinion slightly.

This was the case with my cat for a while, until I let her have a sniff of my pulled pork sandwich, and she took a big bite and ran off.

Inspector Han: PRESENT PLATE! Looks up, are you really going to eat that? Slow walk away with disgusted tail twitch. Inspector Chewbacca: Oh, heya mum. Watcha gots der? Sniff sniffy sniff wuffle. Meh. Sits beside me with his paw on my lap. Pointedly not looking at my plate. Side eyeing every bite. Doesn’t look disgusted, but makes it clear he’s making sure it doesn’t kill me. Their food: royal canin duck and pea. Chicken allergies in Han. Me: beans, lentils, rice and whatever veg is in the clearance sections. I miss dairy. Their food smells delicious. At least I love beans lol.

I had a dog that I tricked into eating a tomato once. He wasn’t pleased, but after that he stopped begging. He would come up and ask to smell and see my food. If he wanted something he would let me know and I would get him some. If he didn’t he just moved along, disappointed, but we had an understanding.

My sister’s dog loved tomatoes. I was picking cherry potatoes in my dad’s garden and would toss them to the dog. He gobbled them up.
