Alternatively, the Orange Idiot thinks that he can offset the cost overruns by skimping on chlorine.

They don’t even stop and think about how utterly fucking ridiculous these accusations are. I bet you dollars to donuts that near the DC monuments there are cameras everywhere. Where’s the footage of these evil Dems dumping buckets of algae in the pool? Any (reliable) eyewitness reports? Any scientists taking samples and maybe seeing if the algae was recently disturbed/transplanted?

I mean, I get it, their feelings mean more to them than facts and evidence, but c’mon, man. This is a 4th grade level critical thinking exercise.

Clearly their pool guy is a dirty dem. He purposely let the Ph level rise and alkalinity get low so the the chlorine was useless…

You know more about water chemistry than most of my coworkers at my power plant. I get so tired of telling them to watch the tower pH and make sure the acid is running in auto so the hypo will actually fucking do something. It’s a miracle that our condenser performance isn’t trashed by fouling. I’ve caught tower pH at fucking 9 before when it’s supposed to be 7.0-7.5, and I’m trying to push for 6.8-7.2.

Better than when cooling water is supplied with an expensive reverse osmosis unit which then proceeds to corrode the entire carbon steel cooling water system due to pH of 5.5 since everyone is convinced water so pure can’t do any damage.

let the Ph level rise and alkalinity get low

Did you mean to word it this way? Rising pH means increasing alkalinity. If the alkalinity is getting lower, then the pH is dropping.

I meant Total Alkalinity as a buffer, either way the water is out of balance causing any chlorine (if any) to be ineffective and letting Alagae grow.

No, “alkalinity” is confusingly another term for water hardness or buffer capacity in English (for historical reasons I guess?).

There is a much easier way to make algae grow in a shallow slow flowing body of water, just paint the bottom a dark color, that way the water stays warm, most algae love warm water. So all you need to do is get a company to come drain it and paint it a dark color, and Bob’s your uncle. It has the added effect of the water staying at the ideal temp for algae growth for a longer percentage of the year, just got to find someone stupid enough to sign off on the plan.

There’s probably a world where Trump was a tiny bit smarter and got an education in interior design to start a new brass movement. Probably the same world where hitler went into architecture after WW1 and is renowned for being a father of brutalism.

One of his extended family members has a house in the UK and it’s really close to where I live and I sometimes have to go down there and look at it because it’s quite spectacularly tacky. It has apparently always been a problem and without a complete overhaul of the plumbing to be redone to accomodate these fixes it wont change. I think Obama had a bid out to have it done but did not do it when it was like 20 million to do it. I also think it’s hilarious that he just spent 10 million to do absolutely nothing. At least his pool company is now rich. From my understanding even that paint job will only last like 5 years tops.

Online federal contracting records show that $1.7 million was awarded to Green Water Solutions for the ozone nanobubbling system, while $14.2 million was awarded to Atlantic Industrial Coatings to line the pool in the color “American Flag Blue.”

      Source

It’s an ozone system, just like the one before it.

An Interior Department spokesperson said that the current algae is “residual” from supply lines that sat dormant for eight weeks during construction. The residue is part of the normal startup process, the spokesperson said.

      (Same source as above quote)

I don’t know why they wouldn’t drain the lines but okay.

I don’t know the details of the new system. If it’s only for treating the new water being fed into the pool like the old one, it’s not going to prevent all blooms just minimize the amount of algae or food brought in with the new water.

You can’t constantly be bubbling ozone through open pools of water because it off gasses. When it’s used as a disinfectant in drinking water the offgas need to be captured and treated.

Only one logical conclusion: ban photosynthesis. We should probably repeal the second law of thermodynamics while we’re at it.
