Go get the leaf, grandma and your uncles are coming.
Nonono, it’s fine, see we’ve bought these half-inch thick cushions with quilt effect that have these little string on them that tie onto the backrest, so stop complaining and eat the Grey Meat and with Beige Vegetables your Grandma spent all day making somehow.
The soviet equivalent, AKA the Fingercrusher. Fuck that thing

Quality table and chairs are timeless
I have this table now.

That table is the best table you’ll ever get. Will last for a very long time so long as it wasn’t made after maybe the 80s or 90s. So long as you ain’t doing anything rough on it, it will last a lifetime.
Though, growing up, we had nicer wood back chairs. I never had problems with them. Worst problem I had was always being the one who had to take a seat that was up against a wall, so I had to slide in and didn’t have a lot of room to adjust where my chair was, besides maybe moving a little to the right.
My family got this set off craigslist to replace an objectively better dining table set that just needed to be refinished. Tried using cushions with them, but they were still a bit uncomfortable.
Saying that, the OP set would unfortunately be quite the upgrade compared to all the MDF and engineered wood that’s so common nowadays :(
Real wood anything is fucking expensive now
I present you the German equivalent, the coffee table named Fliesentisch

As a swamp German: that translates to ‘tile(ed) table’.
I present you the Indian equivalent and idk wherever it’s called

As a non-German who has never seen one of those, that actually looks quite nice, I’d gladly put that in my house :p
My family had this exact set, but I do remember the seats having fabric cushions you tied to the back so you weren’t sitting directly on wood.
not cool until you sit at this table eating your cornflakes with added nicotine.

the chairs were really comfy, but held onto any grease from the kitchen.
oh i remember those chairs. yeah, metal and cushioned. loved them but if vinyl gets a tear, there goes your denim.

omg I had that table
You guys didn’t have pillows on your chairs?
Nostalgia LOADED 100%
Not only did we have this table, my parents donated it to our first college apartment, and then I dragged that stupid thing around for ten years until my father was like “oh you still have this thing.”
Yeah I thought it was like some heirloom, but apparently it was actually something they bought from a yard sale when they first got married and kind of hated for 18 years.
Humm, I grew up with chairs like these:
https://www.stolab.se/p/lilla-aland-stol-bjork-naturell-olja
They’re called “hoopback Windsor chairs” and they’ve been a traditional style for hundreds of years.
We have a bigger version of this downstairs right now
Omfg we had the same chairs with it too? What is life
Hoopback Windsor chairs are an entire style, not a specific design made by one manufacturer.
They were sold as a set.
It was a relatively high quality and cost effective AND not terribly gaudy / ugly.
Theres a reason “ya basic kitchen table set” is everywhere
