Funny thing is that anti-intellectualism isn’t exclusive to the far-right. This is a made-from-mothers-basement tankie meme.

I meant it’s akin to one.

Sorry I’m just getting a bit sick and tired of people firmly in the 1st quarter of the Dunning-Kruger curve thinking that because an argument they disagree with comes from an expert in the field it’s automatically dismissed as elitist and woke/counter-revolutionary rather than weighing up the argument, considering the context, and then deciding how much merit the argument has.

The worst are those who rigidly stick to dogma which includes political idealogues and religious fanatics because to question one’s beliefs in deified ideas/stories is considered to be the most heinous sin of all.

Hence why this christian satire meme shares the same anti-intellectualism strain that also is a feature of far-left extremists (Mao, Stalin, Pott, etc.)

Babylon Bee, the source of this, is a far right clone of the Onion but doesn’t quite understand how punchlines work.

I assume it’s referencing how so many universities are bending the knee to secure funding from the regime.

My thought is its from the American perspective where alot of universities are commercialized like the right wing or religious ones?.. Or it can be that university’s in the USA are just football teams attached to a school?.. maybe?

For anyone who is still confused, this is their disclaimer at the end of the article. They are Nat-Cs

NOT SATIRE: There’s no room for interpretation with Overwear’s merch. Wear clothes you actually believe in. We supply you with biblical narratives that go along with each statement so that you can stand out in a world of trends and defend (absolute) truth.

As a Canadian i think there’s a little confusion here because the roles universities play are a bit different here vs the US. I went to uni and I don’t remember extremely biased teachings myself, and I studied economics.

I’m only very slightly familiar with the Babylon bee as parody kind of like the onion or hard times, but I’m not very familiar with their actual leanings.

My university had extremely biased teachings. Never once did they present me with alternative physics. And in the humanities they made me stay on topic and provide well reasoned evidence for whatever position I took.

A college education is increasingly becoming the political dividing line in the US so the right is trying to degrade trust in the university and education in general.

When you talk about American conservatives, you’re talking about people to whom everything to the left of a church collection plate is communist

Good to know, that makes a lot of sense. I hadn’t seen them in years so I had forgotten. Thanks for the clarification!
