I am an introvert. But I’d really prefer to have a five minute call to a text message conversation taking place over an hour. Organising plans with people is infinitely more painful over text messages than it is over a group call. Am I unique in this?

Edit: I do appreciate it when people text to ask if now is a good time to call, though.

Two of the lines having elbow bends in them when they could just be single right-angles makes me unreasonably upset

everyone and their dog has texts come up on their wrist… texts can also be read a lot more discretely than picking up a phone call

That said, some things do warrant a phone call, it’s just very specific situations

    Problem solved.

    You can’t call me.

(If you can’t disable 2G and 3G and they are still used by your carrier, you can switch to LTE only or NR/LTE or NR only in *#*#4636#*#* menu. This menu may be disabled on some devices.)

This also helps with reconnecting faster when travelling as it won’t have to unnecessarily search for 2G/3G towers.

Alternatively, you could forward all calls somewhere else, so you can still make calls yourself right away.

It does. I’ve been using it, I tested it, it works. They just get the info that I am “currently unavailable” and I get SMS with info on who tried to call me when I was “unavailable”. Just like airplane mode, but I get to keep data and SMS.

2G will be used only for emergency calls.

4G/5G doesn’t support traditional voice calls like 2G/3G did. Only VoLTE, VoWiFi and VoNR which are a total mess with lack of one universal standard. (And you can disable them, which is the point of my comment.)

But they can try, if that’s what you meant.

I’ll text you about calling, just in case you’re busy. You text me back in case you didn’t need to call. Which you prolly don’t.

I love that millennials and Zoomers are like this. I don’t need to have the phone call but I do need the answer now. So I tell them: “Don’t make me call you…”

Usually get a suitable text answer within five minutes.

You’re welcome to speak for yourself, but you don’t speak for millennials. Most of us don’t mind talking on the phone at all.

Speaking as an elder millennial who knows many other millennials who in turn know a lot more millennials, I have no idea where you got “most of us”.

You’re doing exactly what you’re accusing OP of, except you’re wrong and they’re not.

I’m an elder millennial and talk to friends and family on the phone all the time, as does pretty much everyone I know. I’m definitely not speaking for everyone, but I have no doubt the majority of people our age are fine having a phone conversation and are not represented by this meme
