Speculation of Tesla CEO’s possible departure comes as his influence in the administration appears to wane

Elon Musk is reportedly set to leave his government role because he’s tired of the what he sees as a litany of vicious and unethical attacks from the left, according to a report from The Washington Post.

It remains unclear when Musk will depart as head of DOGE; his special government employee status will expire at the end of next month. A person familiar with his thinking told The Post that Musk thinks that his work at DOGE won’t be diminished because of his departure, noting that staffers have already established themselves across a slew of federal agencies.

But speculation of Musk’s possible departure comes as his influence in the administration appears to wane. The New York Times reported last week that the acting commissioner of the IRS was being replaced after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent complained that Musk had his preferred candidate installed without Bessent’s support. Musk has also annoyed other cabinet members by failing to coordinate with them in cost-cutting moves.

    What does he mean he wants to leave politics? He is not in politics, he did not run for any office and was not voted for by anyone. He is free to leave whenever he wants.

    There’s really nothing he can do about it at this point short of completely disappearing from the public eye. He’s so thoroughly fucked his reputation that anything associated with him is fucked by extension.

    Even if he completely leaves any interaction with politics at all, he still has SpaceX, Twitter, and Tesla that will all maintain his status as a public figure. He’s not going to de-Nazify twitter. Telsas aren’t going to suddenly become good cars without a reputation of being swastikcars.

    The only way he could stop being bullied by “the left” is if he sold off every company he owns and disappeared into obscurity. Even then, he’ll still get roasted online all the time. But if he avoids social media he could probably ignore it.

    But that would all go directly against his nature. So there’s nothing he realistically would do that could get “the left” to stop being mean to him. It’s the rest of his miserable life.

    Nobody should listen to this fucking pathetic clown. He’s extremely responsible (due to his sponsoring of the GOP) and aligns himself with vicious attacks on regular people from the right because of “”“DEI”“” and the “woke mob”. Elon is a pathetic scoundrel who lives and breathes hate through every orifice that he inhibits. His words mean nothing.

    Awww, is the Nazi tired of being hated? Too fucking bad. Our grandfathers (great grandfathers for the young folks) killed people like him, so he ought to be happy he’s upright and able to ruin millions (or more) of people’s lives.
