I mean they didn’t farm the whole acre, their garden plot was maybe 10 x 10 ft.

More than I can do in my town home, but not crazy.

Also economies of scale is a poor argument when it comes to farming. Prices on many crops is fixed by the Government. So yes they can produce food much cheaper, but they fix the price to be higher. If it wasn’t for the government corn at our current rate of production would be nearly free, but it’s artificially inflated.

  • You claimed it was not effecting me personally. I gave you an example of how it was. Believe it or not having an income, housing, food to eat, and health insurance is actually pretty god damn important to me.

I made no more comments on my opinions of this government. I’m equally as disgusted by those things. What would you have me do? I go to my local protests regularly, but that is only so effective if at all. If you’re going to suggest I personally go out and start an armed rebellion, don’t. Neither you or I will be doing that, but you are more than welcome to prove me wrong.

We are almost certainly on the same side here. I’m just fearful these people will not face justice due to our country’s historic precedence. I wish I could have your confidence that they will face appropriate punishment, but I’m skeptical and doubt the American people. So maybe instead of trying to make me into a strawman or attach false claims onto my comments, just take them for what they are and go find an argument worth arguing.

  • How the hell did you get that from my comment?

I feel the effects of this government daily. I haven’t gotten good sleep in months and wonder every day if tomorrow is the day I lose my job. If I lose my career that I’ve dedicated my life to. All due to Trump’s executive action.

It’s a far stretch to go from my cynicism to assuming that I don’t care or I’m unaffected by this regime. I do care and I feel the impacts.

If anything I’d argue I fear US history will repeat itself and these people will not only get away with it, but they will also continue their political careers. I’m afraid that’s what will happen because it has repeatedly happened. I hope I am wrong. I hope this time is different. I will support actions and people that seek to end this madness anyway I can, but I fear nothing will happen

  • Bullshit. The united states has always failed to prosecute bad actors. They executed 1 general after the civil war. The rest of the Confederate government got to live out their days free. All of the governors that fought civil rights never got punished, nor did the cops that still tried to enforce segregation after the civil rights act. Nixon and everyone that worked with him got away with Watergate. What didn’t Reagan get away with?

The US will only punish poor people with no political power if they dare try to change the system.

I hope I’m wrong this time, but US history is disappointing

I’d disagree, my grandparents were very very poor, but they grew up in farming country and had an acre. They wouldn’t be able to have had a garden if it meant putting in more money than buying.

Even with my own gardening expirence I’ve put a lot of money in personally for longevity and ability to move my garden in the future, but I 100% could have tilled up soil and planted some tomatoes for very cheap.

  • I’m terrified that my SO is going to be dragged out of our home.

Doesn’t seem like it. You valued your virtue signaling more.

Now my family has to worry about being able to eat and you worry about your SO. Frankly I worry about mine too

Neither of these things would be happening under a Kamala presidency, but that doesn’t matter to you it seems.

You may find this hard to believe but you can vote for harm reduction and continue to protest the things you disagree with.

If you believe that the democrats lead us to fascism through a lack luster campaign then you acknowledge that a Democrat win would have resulted in the prevention of fascism. That means you chose fascism. I guess we all have to live with the consequences of your actions.

Also you underestimate the number of things I can be mad at. I can be mad at Trump, the Democrats and people like you all at the same time. You’ve made it very clear you can only comprehend one issue at a time, but trust me I have enough anger. I’ll keep marching until they stop me ✌️

  • Frankly I don’t care how you try to justify it. Project 2025 was not a secret. Now my sister lives in fear of how she’ll make ends meet and provide Healthcare for my niece. And I am looking at being unemployed all due to Trump’s policies.

Your logic doesn’t change Trump’s actions nor does it change the absolute devastation facing me and my family.

These plans were not a secret, and instead of casting a vote for less suffering you stayed home. Ensuring the suffering of not only people here, but an accelerated genocide.

But hey at least you think you have the moral high ground. Must be nice having the privilege to both judge and not feel the effects of Trump’s policies at home. Daddy leave you an emerald mine too?

  • You made a choice and that made kids hungry. Own up to you. You can justify it however you want. You can use whatever prose and logic you wish, but you and many others like you bear that responsibility.

The dems can be a whole hell of a lot better, and so can you. I’m sorry you found neither shool lunch programs for hungry kids and abortion rights for women an unwanted policy of their platform

  • I don’t know how to make this any clearer this is not a full throated endorsement of the democratic party by any means. This is a pragmatic response to our failed governmental system.

If my choices are won’t cut food stamps and will cut food stamps. I will vote for the party that won’t cut food stamps.

I have plenty of criticisms for the “won’t cut food stamps” party, but abstaining from voting and allowing the “will cut food stamps” party to win is the absolute worse option. If you want to pretend to care about the working class don’t stand on a moral high ground and allow the “will cut food stamps” party to walk into a majority.

  • >looks at the absolute gutting of worker protections, union rights, funding to Medicare, funding to food stamps, and an unimaginable number of federal grants that go directly to providing services to impoverished Americans being pushed through executive action and congress

Yeah sure exactly the same, absolutely no difference between the two. The working class definitely won’t be suffering any more
