9.76N to 9.83N depending where you are, if you want to be super pedantic.

“Mount Nevado Huascarán in Peru has the lowest gravitational acceleration, at 9.7639 m/s2, while the highest is at the surface of the Arctic Ocean, at 9.8337 m/s2.”

I’ve only ever encountered decaliters in Dune, where there’s the awkward phrase “38 million decaliters” instead of “380 million liters”. It’s probably because Frank Herbert was initially thinking in gallons, and it got changed later.

Pints are also much bigger on the east side of the Atlantic than the west.

oh you’re why Matchett’s hired a bouncer.

mpv users know.

go on and watch Balance of Terror, even if it’s the only TOS episode you ever watch.
i was disappointed in the Strange New Worlds remake of that episode (the S1 finale, Quality of Mercy) because it a) wrongly assumed that most of the audience hadn’t seen Balance of Terror, so it didn’t properly land with my non-Trekkie friend watching together and b) wasn’t as good as the original, and i am generally a big SNW fan.
Mark Lenard’s performance is incredible.
edit : i’m going to watch it again right now, so thanks for the prompt to do so!
edit 2: in the midst of it, it’s so good.
when I was a child, I was sure all American cars had entirely different kinds of engines than ours, because they ran on gas, while ours used liquid fuel.

Skeleton Crew was tons of fun, this bodes well.

“ball knowledge”? is it a urology class?

absolutely, the uniform looks way more Systems Alliance than Starfleet.

ok? I don’t think anyone said they do.
the point was, someone claimed that only Macs have unified memory, so I gave some counterexamples, not an exhaustive list of all counterexamples.

I think they’re ARM-based, so yes.

which is not unique to Macs. all ARM PCs have unified memory. AMD is doing it in some of their x86 now too (Strix Halo) and Intel also have it with their Core / Arc integrated graphics boards - https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpu-drivers/intels-new-graphics-driver-lets-you-dedicate-up-to-87-percent-of-laptop-memory-capacity-to-the-igpu-for-vram-core-ultra-cpus-get-shared-gpu-memory-override-feature

you’re talking a feature of ARM architecture vs x86.
lots of companies besides Apple are making ARM PCs, and Linux (and Windows and other OSes) runs fine on ARM with unified memory.

you shouldn’t go by just one name unless you’re the most famous person with that name in the whole sector - i was confused why the BSD Theo was advocating Linux now.

all commercial hovercraft are watertight and buoyant even when the engines are off.
Iceland shouldn’t be on this, it didn’t exist until ~20 million years ago. Pangaea broke up ~200 million years ago.
Probably lots of others, like most of Japan shouldn’t be labelled either.
better keep the fire away from the naquadria deposits.
being so far south that a Halloween evening is still light, but still doing Halloween activities anyway, is a wild new idea for me.
it’s like Aussies wearing Santa hats in midsummer.
