0·4 months agoI mean the US not being the good guy was the distillation of his message.
Another person spoke about his Epstein connection which has come out recently, which is a huge disappointment. All I can say is that like 15 years ago, people like him, Norm Finkelstein and Chris Hedges helped to plant me on the left. Finding out about Epstein has been difficult to understand given his work and the effect it had on me.

0·4 months agoYeah, I honestly don’t know what to make of that, it’s personally a real letdown as Chomsky’s power came from truth telling and moral clarity, and then he hangs out with that fucking pedo. I’m not sure what he was accused of specifically. I thought it was that he had dinners with Epstein. I hadn’t heard he advised him. That’d be next level bad.
However, I don’t think that changes his analysis. Either it’s valid or not.

0·4 months agoDon’t know the exact context to this story because it just popped up on my feed, but it reminds me of a Chomsky interview about his book “Manufacturing concent”. The book deals with the western media and how it controls conversations by setting the overton window.
Andrew Marr: How can you know that I’m self-censoring? How can you know that journalists are…
Noam Chomsky: I’m not saying you’re self-censoring. I’m sure you believe everything you’re saying. But what I’m saying is that if you believed something different, you wouldn’t be sitting where you’re sitting.
Some real Hyperion Shit going on here. Anyone from the web should prolly move on…😳

Palestine@lemmy.ml•According to multiple Israeli reports, the latest U.S. plan for Gaza would have former British Prime Minister #TonyBlair oversee an indefinite interim administration, initially without Palestinian

No, but everyone who has been responding have been really positive. Maybe I’ll take a swing at it
Yeah fair enough. I’m not super familiar with the genre, still learning, but I’ve gotten a ton of good feedback.
Thanks for explaining it. You and the other comment bpiqued my interest. Grateful.
Interesting. I wouldn’t have pictured platformers as having this much exploration. Thanks for taking the time. I’ll have to check it out.
Can anyone explain to someone who doesn’t get it? How can a platformer be this great? I’m obviously not a player who gravitates to platformers, but I’m just curious about all this attention.

0·1 year agoI don’t think that someone is talking about using BTC or ETH. They’re literally unusable to make purchases (multiple minute settling times and the high costs you mentioned) but any other functional L1 would work. Algorand for examply has ~3second block times with instant finality and costs a fraction of a fraction of a sent to use the network. Those fees couple be subsidised they’re so low. They’re significantly lower than a rail like Visa or MasterCard. But you’re right, implementing it so anyone can easily use and access it is key.

Comment from a chud relative is that this is a fake fight so liberals stop hurting Tesla 😂. Coping so hard. Must be embarrasing to be that desperate.

Europe@lemmy.ml•Germany forces Pro-Palestinian media outlet red.media to shut down.
0·1 year agoI think of this when Europeans on other threads shit on Americans by saying “come over here if you want that free speech back”. That was never a thing in Europe, and certainly isn’t now in the days of Palestinian genocide. Shit on Americans all you want, but let’s be accurate with those turds shall we?

Gaming@lemmy.zip•Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 doesn't require reflexes, says player who beat the game without dodges or parriesEnglish
0·1 year agoDude absolutely. I accidently got cornered by it so I couldn’t progress till I beat trumpet dude due to how it would reload (assuming i’m thinking of the same guy). I probably fought that bastard 15 times before I beat it. I’ll say I REALLY like the game. It’s absolutely beautiful and i’m loving the slow release of the lore. Even the battles (that can be really frustrating) are great because you can get absolutely wrecked 10 times, but then get the timings down and absolutely dominate the bastard. It’s really simple, but also real rewarding, I find.

0·1 year agoProbably, though also arguably dodging skill didn’t matter, because the comparison case was not dodging at all. It was my first time playing, but I can’t imagine scaling up the experience from there to some of the bosses I’ve fought since, all without dodge/parry.

0·1 year agoI couldn’t come close to beating the first optional hand holding battle ( literally against a little girl) on standard. I can’t imagine how they beat the game without dodging and I can’t imagine it was fun.

I kind of dove into this game with no expectations and I absolutely loved it. The nonsense of this world you’re diving into is so well done and weird in all the best ways. I loved it.
