commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlOPto GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•brainrot Chinese internet ideologies tierlist0·8 days agoTo be frank I don’t think the state cares about them. They’re like weeds in a garden and they hold no political power whatsoever outside of the internet, and they’re still generally laughingstocks there. Given how hard moderation is with the sheer volume of content, the CPC mostly worries about more important things.
commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlOPto GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•brainrot Chinese internet ideologies tierlist0·9 days agoI guess I must be hanging around the right parts of town lmao, I personally haven’t seen much Japan apologia or Manchu restorationism, which I guess I can chalk up to the election cycle at the time and seeing mostly backlash.
commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlOPto GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•brainrot Chinese internet ideologies tierlist0·9 days agoOnly for a few months lol, since I had no good vpn and was stuck browsing Chinese media for better or worse (lemmygrad traffic is a bit too slow for my taste). But yeah, I do spend most of my time on reddit and especially youtube, so I’ve seen… things.
commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlOPto GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•brainrot Chinese internet ideologies tierlist0·9 days agoNot really coherent enough as a worldview/ideology for the tierlist, but I would lump it in with conservative westhating.
commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlOPto GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•brainrot Chinese internet ideologies tierlist0·9 days agocommiespammer slopmaxxing era has just begun, comrade.
commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlOPto GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•brainrot Chinese internet ideologies tierlist0·9 days agoYeah, my experience being limited to bilibili has kinda narrowed the scope of this tierlist. There seems to be a tendency online to overcorrect for the unapologetic bootlicking that was going on decades back, but frankly I’m just glad they’re being obnoxious in person where I can’t see or hear from them, ever.
commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlOPto GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•No, transphobes don't understand 'basic biology'.0·10 days agoI would argue that that’s still ‘basic biology’, given that most of the time when people learn about this stuff for the first time the ‘central dogma’ is taught in a package, and that it doesn’t go over things such as ribozymes and regulatory stuff. In any case, DNA essentialism is still stupid, since it’s disproved in numerous ways even without involving sex and gender (the elephant in the room being tissue differentiation)
commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlOPto GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•No, transphobes don't understand 'basic biology'.0·11 days agoActually yeah that’s a much better way to put it. For some reason I was thinking about classification of plant parts when I wrote that reply, no idea what I was on.
commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlOPto GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•No, transphobes don't understand 'basic biology'.0·11 days agoI’ve always wondered how they don’t find it awkward that they’re essentially professional haters to a group of people who literally couldn’t want to do less with them.
commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlOPto GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•No, transphobes don't understand 'basic biology'.0·11 days agoEh, I would argue that sex is more like an arbitrary classification than a spectrum, but other wise I completely agree with what you’re saying. And even in schools, at least from my experience, they don’t teach you about gender and sex being the same thing, they only teach you about sexual characteristics and what they do. So all their arguments were essentially completely pulled out of their asses. Gender itself actually isn’t discussed very much in any of the biology textbooks I own, probably because it’s more psychology-adjacent. We don’t really touch anything more complex than reflexes lol
commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlto Ask Lemmygrad@lemmygrad.ml•Was China's rare earth export ban a retaliation against Trump's tariffs or a strategic timing to enact the ban?0·23 days agothe CPC was pressured against the wall and forced to use the rare earth ban for leverage.
That’s a… pretty interesting claim, since at this stage China and the US are basically on equal footing, and we’ve already seen that China has done ample preparing for a potential trade war, with them basically being unaffected. If any side is the desperate one, it’s the US.
commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlto GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•CPC cracking down on bureaucratic privilege0·1 month agoresearch sounding like tobacco and alcohol is something I have never seen a single Chinese person ever point out, nor have I ever noticed. The intonations are basically polar opposites too, so I have no clue what this loser is getting at.
5 stages is quite a bold claim since I’ve never seen westerners grappling with anything other than denial.

commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlto Ask Lemmygrad@lemmygrad.ml•Was Stalin responsible for the Second Sino-Japanese War?0·2 months agoThere’s an incredibly good history of the Chinese warlord era that leads up to this 1931-1937 period, Beiyang Junfa Shi, ‘History of the Beiyang Warlords’. Was written by a guy who studied the archives for half a century. Idk if it’s available in english though.
edit: found it on Anna’s but it’s in Chinese. I’m sure there’s plenty of translation software that might work, although it is quite a long read, so I wouldn’t go too much into it unless you’re really interested in this topic. https://annas-archive.org/md5/049b77615925905ac7790b909cbed0c2
commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlto Ask Lemmygrad@lemmygrad.ml•Was Stalin responsible for the Second Sino-Japanese War?0·2 months agoJapan had already invaded China once in 1931, and Zhang Zhizhong was a hero but was literally demanded to stand down and lost reputation in the eyes of the population temporarily for this. This accusation is so incredibly stupid that I could not articulate how insanely dumb it is. I want to tear my eyes out with every line of this I read as my abdominal organs twist themselves into a knot at the sheer cringe. These authors have less understanding of 1930s Chinese politics than a historytuber sourcing non-cited from wikipedia and I sincerely hope they never write a book about this topic ever, ever again.

commiespammer@lemmygrad.mlto Ask Lemmygrad@lemmygrad.ml•Will assholes go to extinct in late stage communism due to comradery education?0·3 months agoI think they’d be a lot less common, but I tend to feel personality is more influenced by upbringing.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I’ll definitely take a look at some of these.
