For example the Trilateral commission describes itself as an organisation focused on “our roots as a group of countries sharing common values and a commitment to the rule of law, open economies and societies, and democratic principles” yet it was specifically set up to stem “excess democracy” in Europe and the US.
They don’t see it as hypocritical. Democracy for them and democracy for you are two different things.
