The most evil character in the Abrahamic holy books is…
Or hear me out. There is no god and we’re all just animals eating each other
Yeah, that’s the circle of life. But with that, like the poster in the screenshot, I find factory farming of animals to be absolutely horrendous and try to avoid supporting it. I feel hunting, on the other hand, is absolutely acceptable, and in some ecosystems necessary.
I agree. I’m native and I am a vegetarian, but I can’t say eating animals is wrong, no more wrong or immoral than if a bear ate me. I just choose not to. If I did eat an animal it would have to be hunted, treated with respect, and not wasted. So I eat it maybe once a year at family gatherings . But even that is enough for vegans to say I’m just as bad as a factory farmer, which honestly I think is hubris.
You want to choose not to eat meat, great. But to think we humans are above it all, above this world and the circle of life as you said, is just narcissism. Especially when it’s a city white kid telling natives they’re terrible for surviving as that always have
The thing about the religious is that they don’t really believe that atheists exist. They think it’s a giant joke at their expense.
This is primarily because they are so arrogant and indoctrinated that they cannot accept that someone else’s point of view could be just as valid to that person, as their point of view is to themselves.
To get high with you and bitch about how much of a hypocrite god is.
You know, one time… one time… I told him to fuck off. He kicked me out of the tree house. So, I made my own tree house, with a sauna, and all the cool people hang out there.
With blackjack and hookers…
Lucifer was cast out of heaven for upsetting Heaven by speaking truth to power. It would totally fit if Lucifer complained about how much God is a dick.
God wanted to give free will to man. Lucifer was adamant that it would go tits up and ruin everything, so he tried to oppose god.
God cast out Lucifer and did it anyway.
Lucifer watched sassily as it did indeed go tits up almost immediately.
Lucifer doesn’t hate man, but pities him. Even if he wanted to, he could never inflict the kind of ingenious horrors on us that we inflict on each other.
I think you have it the wrong way around man. In the Genesis myth God forbids touching the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but they do it anyways because of the snake’s rizz. But they are only able to do it because they already have free will at that point.
That’s what I mean, God gave man free will, but expected them to obey and do the ‘right’ thing regardless, even though they don’t have to.
Lucifer immediately proved they would disobey by suggesting they eat the fruit even after being told not to, and it was all downhill from there.
At least, that’s my interpretation.
Didn’t man gain free will (“knowledge of good & evil”) expressly against god’s wishes by eating from the fruit of the tree in Eden? I seem to remember him being kinda miffed about that.
God is less smart than a kindergarten employee.
Overthrow god. After all, history is written by the victors and god would be known as the bad guy had he lost.
Gnostic Christianity in a nutshell.
You say that like it’s not all a story
Nah’, half my biblical knowledge comes from the ‘Shin Megami Tensei’ games. It just hold true in fiction - an evil empire usually sells itself as benevolent after all.
Worse yet, according to the old testament, he wanted us to burn them at an altar for shits and giggle just to rid someone of sin.
Even God thought what we’re currently doing to animals is too f-ed up though. The Bible mentions that sexual acts with an animal is a sin 4 times and the punishment for it is death, for both the perpetrator and the animal. Since impregnating a cow is definitely a sexual act, most animal farmers would be put to death if we followed the Bible.
To save the world from such a cancer.
Some people believe the devil wants you to think for yourself and make your own decisions about what is a good idea and a bad idea
What animals are being killed as babies for sensory pleasure? I’m confused. Is it baby seals? Puppies? Help me out here
Male chicks are literally fed into a grinder since they don’t make good sources of meat.
Ok, but that explanation is missing the “sensory pleasure” part…I think?
Because people enjoy eating meat. Eating is the pleasure part.
For chicks it’s indirect, to keep the egg production going well.
Veal, poultry eggs, etc
Oh, like, for food? What if someone makes a really crappy dish? It’s not still pleasure, is it?
I think they’re talking about Lamb for example. They’re just using very provocative language which muddies the waters to the point of being almost incoherent.
I don’t personally disagree with the core message but berating people and hitting them over the head like that is just not the way to go about changing people’s minds. For one thing it won’t work.
I’ve heard that a common name for carnivores in Vegani circles is “Death Eater” which honestly to me sounds cool as tits.
“Blood Mouth” is also metal af.
There is also blood mouth
That also sounds wicked cool
I typically hear meathead.
The devil wants you to keep yourself hydrated and keep tabs on your mental health.
Peace, love and no pants.
I like pants, my ass gets cold.
Oh God are vegans gonna start blabbering about God now too?
Genesis 9:3
Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
God says “eat animals and smoke green herb.”
It also says gluttony is a sin, and because animal meat is not required in a healthy diet that makes it gluttonous in nature.
LMAO, I took this from some dumb christian website (since that’s the framework we’re playing with rn):
Gluttony is defined as the over-indulgence or lack of self-restraint in food, drink, or
wealth items, especially as status tokens.Christians: WAIT WAIT NOT THAT LAST BIT!
But also by that definition eating meat is still fine, it’s eating like 3 big macs a meal (ykwim) that’s gluttonous.
Meat has been a status symbol since civilization started. Cheese came a bit later, but it’s also a status symbol. The fact that people treat animal flesh like a staple doesn’t make it a staple, it means that those people are blind to their privileges.
I can paste the quote again, no problem!
Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
Here, check out alternative translations: https://www.bible.com/bible/compare/GEN.9.3-4
All I see is “drain the blood before” (exsanguination), what they’d call “kosher”.
Mhmm, drain a lot of blood from not animals do ya? Your leeks are leaking?
Here’s a screenshot of your link btw,
Note
“All living creatures are yours for food.”
Frankly by these passages, I think the bible is fine with cannibalism, much less “eating meat.” As it says “just bleed it out first, is fine.”
Lmao. Meat is a luxury and you scrapped the “wealth items”. It was literally one of the biggest status symbols many moons ago. Now people just have the privilege of this luxury.
I’m not Christian but it’s quite obvious that as long as it’s not survival it would fall under gluttunous. And no it’s not survival when you can choose a moral, cheaper and even healthier diet when walking trough a supermarket that has everything you need.
They get around that by pointing out that this recommendation applies to being in Paradise, which is not applicable “on Earth”.
The apologetics for biblical veganism are as thin as the ones for biblical socialism (very). If you look at the older parts, you’ll see that this God god is very into animal sacrifices and loves BBQ.
Cherry-picking is usually a sign of failure, and that goes in all cases. The best thing to do is to chuck it. Compost it. Dump the whole thing.
Let’s be real the whole thing is made up, they can read into it however they want IMO the problem is when they try to push it on others.
Vegan christians must be absolutely insufferable with the proselytism if my experience with both groups separately is any indication, god forbid they get into crossfit too!
No, the problem is the exploitation of sentient beings, which is happening at a biblical scale.
