There are “juice” drinks that contain 0% fruit juice so I feel like this isn’t an impossibility. I often joke that shit like cheese wiz could not possibly have come from nature. Can anyone think of an example?

I call these vegan by convenience foods.

There’s some chocolate chips so cheap as to not include any milk fats.

Oreos also come to mind for this (not all of them, check the ingredients).

Cheap margarine will often lack any milk fats as well, though it’s worth checking or using one meant for Kosher diets.

I mostly see these things happen with processed foods too cheaply made to include real milk or egg, far less often with anything meaty, though the chicken and beef stock I get from the Chinese grocer qualify for that.

Unless they explicitly state so, yes. Chicken Flavour is vegan and so is beef. This also goes for bacon flavoured chips unless they add milk powder for reasons I can’t explain.

I can’t say this holds true for all popcorn brands, so ymmv, but I have looked and confirmed that the “butter lovers” popcorn at my supermarket contains no dairy.

I’m fairly certain its not generally vegan yet, but most “crab” in (cheap) sushi is most definitely not crab. I think it still has some fish in it, but it’s teetering out there on the edge.

There are quiet a few “buttery” things, like Ritz crackers, Pillsbury crescent rolls / flaky layers, and most movie theater “butter” popcorn that are vegan.

Imitation crab is still fish, (usually pollock) it’s just pureed and thickened with corn starch I think. Pollock and other white fish is just a lot cheaper to farm than crab, and the process approximates the texture pretty well.

YumYum instant noodles beef flavour, duck flavour and chicken flavour are vegan; vegetable flavour and curry flavour aren’t lol
