I’m watching Fantasmas and this is the most bonkers thing I’ve watched all year.

    rambling

Despite wanting to have nothing to do with the modern world at times this feels like the most cathartic TV series ever. Like someone compressed all my millennial stray thoughts and anxieties and imagination and feelings into an insane fever dream of interwoven comedy sketches. There is really nothing like this out there at the moment.

It’s the writer of SNL’s most famous sketches like Papyrus and Wells for Boys doing an entire season of wack which is like a dream come true (okay, I see he’s done another TV show that I have to track down).

I’m glad TV like this gets made; and I’m glad it isn’t as insular and navel-gazing and obnoxiously value-signalling as I feared it might be. There’s an endearing, lovable heart behind the turbocharged surreal/ironic humour.

Worth a watch if you feel like it’s time for something completely different… and want to process life a little differently.

PS Bibo is my favourite character. angrysound.mp3

A friend brought me some xs men’s trackies that were on clearance. They are a bit big but they fit more comfortably than the women’s /shrug

Melbcat has been refusing her wet food for a few days (still eating treats and biccies). I’m going to have to give her meds directly and then feed the wet food after. Also a bit worried about her breathing and might have to return to the twice daily puffer.

It feels way too early for hayfever to set in but seems it has

I’m not overly fond of the colours women’s trackies come out in, they tend to be weird seasonally trendy colours which I don’t like, whereas in the men’s section it’s all black, grey, navy, khaki. Much more practical.

And I was shocked at a $90 bill for the last month… But like you, usage consistent with previous years, just that costs have shot up.

Far out I’d die from a heart attack with that kind of bill.

Worth having a look at whats using all your juice. And that your power company is not sticking it to you. Ovo was cheapest last time I looked.

Would it work out cheaper to buy a couple of the $15 heaters from Kmart and plug them in each room you want heated? Might not be able to heat while rooms, but surely at those prices, it’s better to use hearing to take the edge off, and using layers and savvy planning for the rest (ie only heat the rooms people are in, and try to concentrate everyone into as few places as practical)?

Went to Soi 38 for the first time after work. It’s a Thai restaurant in a parking garage that’s been around for ever and is super popular. I feel like I got punched in the face with flavour … so sour, salty and spicy. So delicious.

The Daily Chair. The other day I bought an outdoor thermometer for the terrace just to check that the nights are warm enough for me to do painting. It’s consistently 2-3 degrees warmer than the temps weathermaps gives for this suburb and it needs to be over 10 , which it is, so that’s good.

I just finished doing a very fine sanding, then a wipe down and another coat of black stain. This time I was very careful to watch for drips.

It’s a really old chair so I just have to accept that it’s going to look knocked about even with restoration. Gen-you-wine shabby, not fake …lol

Lol, the ABC’s doing 1am Wednesday quizzes now.

Are you smarter than a year 9 student?

9/10, I got the 24hr one wrong. But in my defence, it’s 2am and I’m in bed about to do sleepy-doos. Apparently I’m in the top 36% of quizzers, which I guess says a lot about the average person taking a random quiz at 1am on Wednesday morning. Also, seeing as I barely passed year 9 and didn’t take the NAPLAN, I count that as an absolute win. Go me.

I got that one ‘wrong’ too. Ugly construction of question, not entirely correct, and very outdated. The rationale is to connect all the adjectives that describe the noun ‘train pass’. Which contains another adjective - ‘train’. So why didn’t they hyphenate ‘train’ and ‘pass’? I wouldn’t call their ‘correct’ choice as normal usage here in Aus. Maybe hyphenate ‘twenty-four’ cos this functions as a single word but the ‘hour’ surely doesn’t need it for clarity any more than ‘train-pass’ does. Bad question really.

Question 3 is deliberately misleading and wrong. It should be ‘24 hour ticket’. I wouldn’t hyphenate at all (see Goonsey) and no-one writes out time like that. In fact the classic “elements of style” which is a writing bible says you should use numerals for numbers greater or equal to 10 and write them out in words less than that.

That question is some stupid twat adult getting their kicks by making 14 year olds squirm. Or an adult who doesn’t know their grammar.

I had absolutely wild dreams last night. First part of my dreams consisted of evacuating a high rise when the fire alarms went off, but I said “yeah nah fuck off I’m 47 stories up” and took the lift. Second dream consisted of being in Frankston for some reason, and there were SES people putting out a fire and removing a downed tree from the road. But they found illegal fireworks, and they took them home and set them off that night. But they screwed it up and blew up the entirety of Frankston. Third dream consisted of random bugs killing each other, it was really weird and uncomfortable, but not a nightmare

Mine was about a fire too I think, or something was going to explode. And you knew everyone was gonna die but its like it was stuck on rails and you couldnt change the outcome. Deeply disturbing.
