Nah. I make my own preworkout protein bar and each has a tablespoon of honey. Hit that and some caffeine, (banned in the Olympics) and you’ll have a ton of energy while lifting.
It’s just sugar bro, like eating a pack of gummy bears. Still bad for you, but wouldn’t hurt you.
Also not actually bad if you actually use the calories immediately, like an Olympic athlete likely will.
