TAFE orientation done. Should I have a nap, or power through? MIL arrives from WA today and said to partner something about drinks tonight. I don’t know if I’ll make it if I don’t nap, but I don’t want to mess up my sleep cycle much more.

Ugh! I type this all out while making a coffee 😑

Happy Go-Live day folks! A project that should’ve taken max 3 weeks but ended up taking closer to 3 months is finally going in today. Threatened my team that if they bring up one more “Oh, BTW I just thought of X” in front of the vendor the next thing I deliver for them will be a resignation letter. I’m joking, but not really. I no longer care if we deliver the most broken thing in the world, I just want it off my damn plate.

Update: it just arrived. I checked the tracking at 7:18 and it was still saying ready for processing so I went to the kitchen to grab some cheeky ice cream, and then there was a surprise knock on my door! Delivered at 7:21, and after double checking the tracking they’ve retroactively marked it as on board for delivery in Tullamarine at 7:12 (definitely wasn’t there before). I’m a lot more than 8 minutes from tullamarine. I’ll be honest - I jumped when I heard the knock. And yes, it came through startrack not auspost (although in my mind they’re still the same thing)

Not complaining though, that was bloody efficient. I mean look at this!

What kind of laptop did you get? I want to get one for school bc my current one won’t work without being plugged in lol. Still technically a laptop, but not portable haha

I got an MSI Thin A15 “gaming” laptop. I specifically went with this one as it seemed to be the best at that price point and had a dedicated graphics card.

Although it’s a “gaming” laptop, I fully intend on rocking this to school. I’ll turn off the RGB keyboard, and maybe tape an apple logo over the main one (although it’s not RGB and fairly discreet) or something. It’s got a metal case and full size HDMI out + ethernet, so I don’t see why you couldn’t rock it to school. Then again I have a friend whose school only permits MacBooks, even though they aren’t school provided or managed. So I guess YMMV

    Scary movie review part II

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

I forgotted the most important part of my review.

This movie tells teens they have the ability and innate psychological strength to face adversity and that they don’t need protecting from stories about tragedy and trauma and that facing trauma is a part of healing.

Update: it pretty much turned out to be option 1. I did manage to sleep in for about 30 minutes longer than my usual time, but since I could’ve gotten 3.5 hours more than usual and I’m still feeling tired (but can’t get back to sleep), I’m calling that option 1

So I guess we’re all good now. Recruiter messaged back saying it was a great reference.

HR rang to let me know my start date and time, and what to expect on my first day.

    It’s done.

Thank you everyone for all your help and support ❤️❤️❤️

Now I’m going to give the cat a shit load of treats, and enjoy some video games without feeling guilty because I should be applying for jobs.

I’m looking forward to being back at work and the rewards therein.

Rang Tenants Vic for last night’s issue.

Amongst many things, these two stood out:

    • Under RTA S72 Was told that rental provider must repair within 48 hours
    • Under RTA S67 quiet enjoyment of premises, and that I should be able to use all facilities and rooms to full extent.

But I couldn’t find anything written to support the “48 hours” figure and the “full extent” statement that I could refer to in the next email, any idea?

Agent pushed back saying it’s normal for the switch to trip if we overload the circuit lol. No shit. But if the apartment’s power is cut off from an outside switchboard that only owners corp can access… gotta wait 3 days for someone to come and fix it.

    And for clarity:

    • Switchboard inside apartment: Oven, hot water, and I think the stove are on their own circuits. No idea where the bathroom heater is wired up to.
    • From outside of the apartment: aircon on one “line”, oven/hot water/stove/bathroom heater on another, other outlets on another.
    • Using oven/hot water/stove/heater together apparently cuts the power to the whole apartment from outside, but from what I can gather, we would be fine using a smaller combination of the above, our own portable heaters and aircon together lol.

All done with my meetings for today. Sadly there has been a casualty though as I somehow tore a big hole in one of my pairs of Melbourne Storm bamboo cotton boxers. Not where you’d think either… it’s almost up near my left hip. Anyways RIP boxers, you touched me in tender places and held me close.

Just went through the performance discussion and I still have my job. It just seems like I’ll be getting around on 1 HP at work for a while.

My biggest hope is nothing else happens any time soon as it will be too many mistakes close together. I think I’m going to work on getting out of here and at least this allows me to leave on my own terms.

I’ll take things slow and check my work more before sending it off to other people. The work from home here is great but there isn’t much scope to learn because everyone who built the stuff I work on has left.

Lets hopeI can get a 6 month run of things going smoothly to serve as a soft reset if I don’t move on before then
