The only reason this hasn’t changed yet is that speakers of a particular language haven’t committed strongly to that sort of alteration. If enough people consistently change spellings and pronunciations, eventually the language will experience a shift. It could make pointlessly gendered words become neutral, like they should’ve been to begin with! Human built places can’t have a gender, and it’s silly to assign gendered language to such places or ideas. This current generation is committed to the idea of how they learned to speak, and it’s hard for individuals to let that go. That’s the best answer which I’ve considered. It might not satisfy you.

Genus isnt sexus. The chair isnt female in Spanish because ancient Spaniard it might have titties, its feminine because of its phonology. La silla ends with an a, so it gets the la article.

Why does English still use actor and actress? why do you use definite articles instead of marking definiteness with prefixes? Why do i have to “i saw Mike steal your bike” instead of included something inside of the verb “see” to mark that i witnessed it?

Language is just that. An evolution of changes that happened throughout millenia and rarely was any pressure applird to that change.
