The purpose of this rule is because when I first took over as mod, there were some dubious things being stated in these memes as facts. I got sick of fact checking everything. The spirit of the rule is to make sure that you have back up for anything politicians or famous people say, unless you mark it as satire.

Convenient timing since proof of the deal won’t arrive before the midterms. Russia is experiencing severe gas shortages and Putin has nothing to give except maybe reminders about who owns copies of the Epstein tapes.

Make no mistake this is a trick.

Russia HAS NO DIESEL TO EXPORT. They’re importing at a huge government loss from India.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/world/articles/russia-import-diesel-fuel-while-135000913.html

This fake deal accomplishes exactly two things:

    1. It lets Trump give Putin money for arms against Ukraine and all Putin has to do is middle man Indian diesel.
    2. It lets Trump attack Ukrainians when they strike Russian refineries because they’re "bombing our American diesel supply chain.

The US is a NET EXPORTER of diesel. They don’t need more fuel. The problem is the market price is increasing due to mostly Hormuz since Russian oil is sanctioned. All he’s doing is lifting this sanction to pay Putin to buy arms. Stopping Putin from trading fuel for arms was the entire purpose of the sanctions in the first place.

    Trump is a traitor.

And even worse, the propaganda gets inserted into spaces where it shouldn’t be under the guise of “hurr durr look how outrageous this is?!”

Don’t repost propaganda. It’s propaganda because it is insidious, it works, and people think they are above it.

Isn’t Russia supposed to be very short on fuel itself? Where are they getting all this extra from?

Also the entire problem is that he started a war with Iran over bullshit situations he created.

We were already not importing Russian oil, to support our global interests.

Now. Losing a war with a country who didn’t invade us AND helping another country Invade their neighbor.

      10/10 dumbassery

Yeah, it’s a bit of an exaggeration… but it’s still less than one three hundred and sixty fifth of the annual usage by the population of the country. And we’re not even bringing petrol / gasoline into the equation - as I understand it.

These numbers start to put fossil fuel usage into perspective.

That’s what I thought too, 300.000 tons might sound like a lot but the US (not even including the global markets part of the post) use A LOT of fuel. It’s quite literally a drop in the bucket

I save a Mr Global video and I think he said that 300k tons in October was like 18 minutes of fuel based on usage. And the 500k tons in November was 30 minutes.

So very much nothing at all. Which is why it was reported in tons and not barrels.

de-escalating with another nuclear armed power is good. We shouldn’t trust them, but we can’t fight them because that means nuclear Armageddon

There’s a difference between deescalation and capitulation via self inflicted pain. Zelensky was not wrong to call this a weak decision.

Lmao what even is this argument? We should let Russia invade other countries, abduct children, murder and rape the people and commit genocide, because they have nukes? We don’t care about what happens to the people in Ukraine, as long as we are cozy and safe far away from the front lines? And what if we’d let Putin steamroll Ukraine, where does it end? When he takes the Balkans? When he takes Poland?

Specifically to prevent an all out war all the countries have gone out of their way to prevent open warfare. We provide money, weapons, food and other aid to Ukraine. We provide specialists to assist them with management and infrastructure. But we don’t send in our troop, we don’t attack Russia or even help fight in Ukraine. Economic sanctions are applied and yes these sanctions hurt everyone, it’s a big pain in the ass. The idea is to provide a way of applying pressure without resorting to war. As long as they hurt Russia, it’s worth it.

Saying stuff like the sanctions are making Russia stronger is total nonsense, the sanctions are hurting them a lot. Russia was heavily reliant on selling their oil and gas, now that they can hardly do that anymore, their economy is in big trouble. And sure it strengthens the bond between Russia and China, but that’s not the boon for Russia some people make it out to be. China knows Russia is hard stuck and has been milking them hard, buying oil at a very low price and selling stuff for higher prices. And China also wants to keep the rest of their trading partners happy, so there are limits to what they will do.

If we stand together we can contain the fighting in Ukraine, where Russia was the agressor and prevent escalation both in size and scale. I doubt very much Russia will resort to nukes, as that will unleash the rest of the world against them. We might all lose, but they will lose themselves and it’s their choice to prevent that from happening. We will be able to beat back Russia and hopefully allow them to reform and come back into the fold.

      Slava Ukraini!

No it doesn’t, we’ve had sanctions on them for quite awhile now and there was no Armageddon. I think you’re russian, tbh.

By the way, those sanctions only hurt the value of the US dollar.

Before the sanctions biden put on them, businesses based in russia could do international transactions in american dollars, which helped the US dollar have more value, because people needed to have some american dollars to do international transactions. Now international transactions between civilians in russia and another country are done in russian rubles.

Biden made russia stronger with the sanctions he signed off on. But I doubt he even knew what was going on around him most of the time, he had pretty severe dementia

Edit: And I’m not russian, I’m Swiss, if you must know

They make it sound like Russia is handing over the fuel. The “weak” have been holding off buying shit from Russia because it was a way of fucking Russia’s economy. Trump just buckled.

Sure. He said he magically got something hugely valuable with no cost, and no one else has publicly confirmed that’s true. So the entire deal is actually public: it’s a bunch of made up BS that no one will corroborate as real. It’s that imaginary wall Mexico was paying for all over again.

Hey, look at me. I’m publicly stating that the nation of Italy has agreed to sell me the heel of the boot. The whole place, we’re gong’s slice it right of, and float it to Texas and open a vineyard there. And maybe a monster truck theme park.

Don’t make any of that true just because someone said it.
