Good. We’re way too okay with filming everything and everything for the hope of a few more followers. This is someone’s art that they charge for, filming it either spoils it for the next person (reducing the artists due income), or convinces them not to go. It’s not “viral marketing”, they can do their own marketing.
Or ruins it for the people trying to enjoy it.
I love going to Maynard shows because he’s hardcore about banning phone use during his sets. I saw more than one person get kicked out due to it.
Although at the last tool concert I went to he let people have them out for Sober at the end, but he shamed them all for being junkies. The Pucifer/APC/Primus tour he didn’t, iirc.
I was at a Poppy concert a couple months back, and the guy in front of me at the front rail literally filmed and took pictures of every moment. During songs I intentionally made sure to be extra rowdy into his back to he couldn’t get anything clean.
I take one, maybe two pictures of each band, then phone away. Just something for me to look back on and reminisce.

Exactly. My wife is 5’2 so we have to get aisle seats so she has a chance at seeing. Although I inevitably sit behind a short person standing on their seat to take a video that they’ll never look at.

I’m definitely cool with people snapping a picture here and there . It’s the people who have their phones in the air the entire concert that make me want to cause property damage.

I get annoyed when people hold the phone up high during the show. If you hold it in front of your face, no one behind you can see it. Don’t block people’s view.
Should fucking ban the things at live performances. Everyone would be better off.
They are banned at theatrical performances. People just ignore it and if an usher doesn’t spot it and intervene, most performers just ignore it too.
some venues and shows will actually make people put their phones in those bags at the door. Just like my kids elementary school.
There should be a machine that makes phones explode or melt if they are on.
