Its card captor sakura, same decade of anime, and an OG magical girl anime
OG was way before anime, during ancient japan times with “magical girls” fighting demons to protect towns.
I feel old when I was asking myself, “is that card captor sakura?” in the first few seconds and then realize I was right.
Also, holy hell how did we all miss the pedophilia between the teacher and her? It wasn’t even in my thoughts about the show until someone pointed it out in a thread 15 years after I last saw it.
It wasn’t her, it was another student that had the relationship with the teacher. Sakura had a one sided crush on her brother’s friend (later implied boyfriend).
Her father though, met Sakura’s mother when she was a high school student while he was a teacher.
Ah, that was it. I think they also downplayed it or amended it slightly in the dub? It’s been a while, lol.
There’s a lot that can go over your head when you’re young. For me it was FLCL and its themes of grooming and abuse along with Mimi being homeless.
