Some cinemas don’t do reservations anymore. You can only buy in advance

It’s people reserving seats for opening night/weekend. Not as absurd as presales for video games.

This is why things never get better. We vote with our wallets. 10 of us don’t buy the thing and 2000 do.

Pre ordering seems a bit foolish. But then again I’m still on my “try to give zero money to Disney and other mega corps” kick.

I agree with the sentiment of your statement, but I wouldn’t consider movie ticket sales to be the same as a preorder.

Similar. You’re buying tickets before any reviews are out. It won’t crash on launch like a video game might, but it’s still a lot of faith for minimal gain. I guess they could sell out, but you could just wait.

They, re probably servo-guards. Visually similar design, much smaller, and less powerful, easier to mass produce.

It’s not just Hugh Jackman, they’re all there until they’re 90. Hell, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart are nearly there. Forget 90, why not a cool C-note? With AI, they can go even longer. Tom Holland will be playing Spider Man beyond the year 2100.

Community Guidelines

  1. Be constructive. As a community this is place for discussion, things you liked, things you didn’t like, any everything in between. Low effort comments don’t add to the discussion.
  2. Be civil. Disagreements happen. Don’t attack others. Take a moment and reconsider before you post an inflammatory comment in all caps.
  3. No spam. Please don’t post spam, trolling or other low effort content. If you’re a human and you saw something interesting or had an interesting thought, you’re probably fine.
  4. Memes are allowed. We’re a small community, feel free to post memes or similar content. Funny things are good. If it becomes a problem we can discuss changing the rules.

In addition like any community we follow the Lemmy.World content policy rules. In short, don’t attack people or groups.

Spoiler Guidelines

  • Be mindful when posting spoilers or spoiler content.
  • If you’re making a post put “(Spoilers)” at the start of your post.
  • If your post is an image mark it as NSFW.
  • If you’re making a comment use the Lemmy spoilers markdown.

When should something no longer be considered a spoiler? In general use your best judgement. If want something more specific,

  • For films, wait until it’s been released to streaming for at least a few weeks.
  • For TV shows, consider the whole season as a spoiler until the last episode of the season has aired, then wait a few weeks.
