Reading books about how to behave in social settings was very effective in reducing my social anxiety
“How to Make Friends and Influence People” is a classic that has a lot of examples. I listened to the audiobook
people like to recommend that book but its pretty bad advice for autists in my opinion. its way too vague and doesnt really lay out a central underlying thesis of human socialization, instead relying on the reader already having a basic grasp in the first place. we’re all different but i find having an overarching theory to fall back on much more useful than a loose bag of recommended actions.
That one is great, as is “Emotional Intelligence”
“How to win friends and influence people” is a great book. I can also recommend How to Talk to Anyone: “92 Little Tricks for Big Success in Relationships” by Leil Lowndes
