I believe the goal is to work two groups into an incurable division aka you want both sides to know they are the good guys and know the other side are essentially the spawn of Satan. The absolute worst case scenario would be these two sides putting down their differences and working together. That’s why it’s at a state of religious infallibility, you can’t have anyone on either side questioning it less they be labeled something even worse than the enemy, some lukewarm traitor to both sides.
