Please… It’s not others job to find references for you. If you fail to reference something, that is your cape. We should not normalize outsourcing of referencing.

    lets have good conversation ettiquette

If you don’t want to do research to support your claims, don’t make statements of fact that require verifiable claims.

People feeling free to post whatever fictional bullshit they’ve half-remembered is how we started down this path of “post-truth” nonsense. That’s wanting to be “right” without putting in the effort to make sure you are right.

Everyone is free to stop posting if they start walking into a conversation that is deep enough to require references: the person above did not.

Additionally, shooting the shit where you’re all talking bollocks is fine. You tell them they’re a dumbass but you don’t demand references because they’re not posting it in public. But, if they bought a billboard to say something unverified and potentially wrong, I’d demand to know what their sources are.

The internet, by its nature, (and this forum, specifically) is not private, and is not afforded the luxuries of private indiscretion.

I really don’t care if you believe me about a specific reference pertaining to a garbage show that hired a settler-terrorist for their cast.
