What’s unfortunate is that the term will lose its punch over time as people forget this moment. Also that many see this as an anomaly rather than what it really is: a rare peek behind the curtain of how the sausage has always been made.

Yeah which is why we’ll eventually have to come up with a new word to satisfy the euphemism treadmill, and we have to accompany any usages of “Epstein class” with the caveat that Epstein is a common example of a common thing. It’s a tradeoff.

Once again: people will literally stop paying attention if we don’t use these euphemisms. Yes, amongst comrades and informed people, obviously I will use the precise terminology like bourgeoisie. But my parents, my friends, my colleagues … they’re getting the euphemisms until they are informed enough to get the full story.

          owning class

That’s not much more direct than Epstein class, although I do like it and I’ll try to use it more often.

For those with false consciousness, you often have to meet them where they are, because five-dollar words don’t get through to them.

Yes but I think there is a limit to this. Owning class is the most euphemistic I am willing to go personally. It’s easy to explain and doesn’t make me sound hoighty toighty.
