So in Qatar, we need Max to win the race, Oscar to come second, Lando to come 9th, and then in the sprint, Oscar to win, Max in 8th and Lando behind Max. There’s other ways to do it as well of course but that sets up a three way tie going into Abu Dhabi.
Piastri will bottle and we get Yuki to take out Lando, easy peezy.
The only way Yuki is taking out Lando is if he’s getting lapped.
Oh good, another final race the stewards can give to Max.
at least this one he is winning it way back…
and why not, modern F1 fans will literally watch anything.

Spicyyy
A year after first reports of McLaren cheating w/ skid blocks surfaced, finally caught. So are they gonna disqualify them for the whole season? Because they definitely been running them the whole time. Last week in brasil they were already found out. This week they had to run without. And boom: Plank wear.
What ?
That was my thought as well, I’m guessing it’s this, which I hadn’t heard about before
It is believed that nearly all teams have, to varying extents, employed this method—with some gaining a substantial advantage on circuits where cars can run very low.
If the skids expanded, they would protrude more and therefore be more prone to wear. That is the exact opposite of what the “trick” should do. Furthermore they wouldn’t be flush with the plank after cooling down again for re-scrutineering, which would be weird because that is tightly regulated.
So I don’t know who came up with this rumor, but it makes sense on no level whatsoever.
Fascinating. I wonder how that works, how titanium would expand when heated?
I think most materials expand when heated, and I guess it only needs to be a millimetre or two to make a difference to an f1 car
True, but I guess I was hoping it’d involve some interesting machining to encourage growth in one direction or something.
Kinda like a bellows, for ex.

Maybe it does, but given that it’s all secret at the moment you might have to wait a year or so for someone to write up an explanation once the secrets are out!

Ah I see you follow F1 for the WAGs
Oh. You’re one of those “fans”.
Please enlighten us. What reports on ‘McLaren cheating w/ skid blocks’ surfaced a year ago?
Championship back on
Max is within a race points haul again, I cannot believe how much you can’t count him out
Almost, I still think it needs a collosal fuck up again next week.
Bottle Norris won’t let you down
McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have been disqualified from the Las Vegas Grand Prix after both their cars were found not to comply with technical regulations.
Post-race, the rearmost skid wear on both McLaren MCL39 machines was found to be below the minimum 9mm thickness by technical delegates on inspection.
Oh goody. Another fucking max championship.
Honestly, I was a bit uninterested in seeing him win by a billion seconds and walk to the championship in recent years… But this season is a close title fight and it would be a pretty cool story to see him come from so far back, in my opinion! What a collapse from McLaren!
Yeah the issue isn’t ‘max winning bad’ so much as ‘max winning boring’ at least from a neutrals perspective. If he pulls this one off I don’t think people will be nearly as upset/disappointed as last year
Hardly. Norris would have to bottle the next races or Yuki would have to do Crashgate 2: Electric Boogaloo or divine intervention strikes down the car. And of course Max would have to keep giving 100%.
Max has driven phenomenally and he is well deserving of the championship title, but it’s not a question of whether he wins it, it’s a question of whether Norris will lose it.
bottle
what’s with this “bottle” thing? I get what you mean, I just don’t know where the expression comes from
But that’s the point made today: it’s not only down to the drivers. If a team fumbles - be it with scrutineering like today, or with a pit stop, or strategy, or sending the driver out at the wrong time in quali - that could easily change things up again. F1 is a team sport. Even if Norris locks in, his team could fuck up.
Max is going to lose it by the amount of points he could have made if Kimi didn’t crash into him.
24 point difference right now, up to 58 points left to earn. I agree Norris has to fumble, but it’s not unforseeable that Max wins.
1 DNF from Norris and it’s likely over. Alternatively, Max wins everything, Norris gets a 3rd and a 4th place in the main races and 2nd in the sprint (or another combination where Norris isn’t 2nd or 1st each race). Both scenarios are unlikely to happen, but not exactly a long shot either.
Does pole position still give a point? Those could really make a difference in these last races.
You mean fastest lap? Qualifying has never given points (to the best of my knowledge).
Fastest lap point was retired after Ricciardo’s humiliating final action of his career, nicking points away from McLaren on behalf of his team

This season is actually kino
Best season since 2021.
Simply lovely!

They gambled and lost. Oh well.
Incredible work from McLaren in the second half of this season to giveax a viable shot at the championship.
Statement by McLaren team principal Andrea Stella:
“During the race, both cars experienced unexpected, high levels of porpoising not seen in the Practice sessions, which led to excessive contact with the ground.
We are investigating the reasons for this behaviour of the car, including the effect of accidental damage sustained by both cars, which we found after the race, and that led to an increase of movement of the floor.
We apologise to Lando and Oscar for the loss of points today, at a critical time in their Championship campaigns after two strong performances from them all weekend. As a team, we also apologise to our partners and fans, whose support means so much.”
unexpected, high levels of porpoising not seen in the Practice sessions
why is he straight up lying, Lando was complaining about that in practice
You mean they rainy practice sessions that got cut short? yeah, how did they not just press the fix it button
Come on man, Las Vegas was a shit show: new track (3rd time ever), street circuit, crappy logistics (in 2 out of the 3 they have failed to secure sewer caps), it rained throughout practice and quali… to have basically anything unexpected is an understatement considering how little reliable information they could get.
Totally their fault anyway, but I cast doubt and the implications you are making
did any other drivers complain so much about it?
don’t know, it didn’t even make it to the highlight reel, and literally nothing tv worthy happened during that pratice
This is some Ferrari clown show BS
