Weird, I could have sworn I read this headline 30 years ago! And 20… and 10…
It’s funny, I’m all those things but don’t feel oppressed. Could it be that other people being treated better as a whole doesn’t upset me?
No it’s the kids that are wrong!
The problem is you’re just not angry enough and therefore don’t need to blame anything and everything on others. THIS IS ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT, now go and stump your toe on something and start blaming others for it, dammit!!!
Fuck me for being chill & and enjoying peace and harmony! Can you teach me your ways of giving a shit about stuff that is inconsequential to me?
/s to avoid any confusion.
I don’t feel oppressed, just pressed. I think it’s the cats on my lap.
I know it’s the onion community, but I’m sure some people honestly believe this.
I had a relative somewhat recently make the statement that christians are the most oppressed group in the United States. She said that to me, a member of the LGBT community. Not that it’s a competition, but I can think of several dozen groups of people in the USA who I would consider to be more oppressed, but what do I know?
If someone said that to my face I dont think I’d be able to resist a confused “how?”
"bUt YoU gUyS gEt a WhOlE month!!1@7!!
What about this completely made up counter point, that totally happened and I’m not making up as I go?"
I think this kind of stuff really resonates with lower class natives of countries that never take the initiative to better themselves. They sit around and do silly shit all their lives and then get pissed off when educated & hardworking people come along and have things these natives never put in the effort to have.
“When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.”
“I just want to be treated equally,” Lowe continued, while being interviewed on national television, in a segment produced, directed and hosted almost exclusively by straight white men.
And they definitely think you’re one of them if you look like it. I remember when the pandemic first was popping off, I just moved to a purple pearl in the middle of arguably the reddest state. I started going bald early, so I shave my head and have a short beard for the appearance of a chin. I was wearing my mask at a local market and some dude turned to me and said “you know you don’t have to wear that brother (emphasis both implied, and unsettling real)”
Like dude, me and you are not on the same side of this, or any other debate. I’m so far left I’d make Bernie blush.
Someone didn’t laugh at his joke at its the worst form of oppression ever. Worse than death!
“White men are all privileged babies who face no real struggles at all and should be ridiculed any time they speak. They are responsible for all the problems and should be ashamed of being who they are!”
Later…
“OMG why are so many white men embracing right wing influencers who tell them their feelings and struggles are valid and they aren’t responsible for all the evils of the world?!”
We’re all in the same boat folks. And while privilege absolutely exists, it is more often based on wealth instead of skin color. Articles like this, even satire, are meant to distract from the very real class war with a made up race war.
Yup, anyone putting forth a race based argument is likely racist and us unlikely to be working for class solidarity
suspiciously deep tan on that dude
Many such cases
