Seattle doesn’t seem to be making it into any of these national compilation galleries.
This video gives some sense of scale to the march that went on there: https://bsky.app/profile/victinibcn.bsky.social/post/3lrlwocb5fc2b
Keep in mind this doesn’t include the front or the tail of the march which are turning onto streets off-camera.
Lol: “We shall overcomb!”
I couldn’t be available for the first half of out local one (SoCal), and had to stay phone accessible for the second half, but I drive through it. Honestly, the turnout was insane. I saw the huge crowd at the intersection where it was supposed to be, and thought it was really impressive. Then I drove through it and the crowd was just thicker and thicker as I went - it went for blocks. My friend went and he said it was a great experience - everyone was peaceful. Lots of cops, but just being present they way they should be when there are thousands of people on the street.
Hopefully this time there’s more news coverage. This AP story is a good start.
I was honestly surprised at the number of people fully exposing their face at mine. 50501 does a good job at deescelation and keeping things civil, so I had minimal ppe (just eyes and ears) but still obscured my face. Many folks didn’t even do the basics of hiding their identity and it made me a bit concerned for them, particularly the vulnerable. It also made me quite proud of them for showing up without fear or concern, to let themselves be heard.
Yeah, I’m afraid it’s just the same as lack of concern over digital privacy. I don’t want to diminish the bravery but I’m sure a lot of them aren’t considering how easy it would be for trump co. to use pictures months down the line to identify protesters.
I was in Iraq, stationed at Balad AB in 2006. We heard ALARM RED multiple times a day from rocket and mortar attacks. I wasn’t afraid then. I won’t give in to fear now. The clowns in this regime are a joke.
That is the level of fucks I have to give for these fascists and their bullshit. Take care of yourselves the best you can, as you see fit. But I won’t let their bully tactics do anything but show how pathetic and small they are!
Just got back from the downtown Portland one (have a class I need to go to). It was overwhelming with how many people were there of all ages. And there are several of these happening simultaneously in our city.
I’ve been going to my local protests for months now. They have slowly been growing but this one went from hundreds to thousands. It was intense
MORE!!!
Ha, great. Thank you.
